    Thanks brother, that’s awesome, I had a good long laugh after reading that because it reminded me about how George Carlin joked about never trusting a gravy that was made by a man… a man’s gravy! Then my twisted mind went right into the Beastie Boys lyric, “… if it’s gonna be kind of a party, I’m gonna stick my d*ck in the mash potatoes!”

    Please do me the favor of pointing out which two have too many curves to be fun and get your lovin’, I’ve got to know! The one in the middle has so many damn twists and curves, riding her would remind of turn 8A, the famous “Corkscrew”, at Laguna Seca raceway! Think of it as a military operation… Get out the drop cloths men and bring the flour… we’re goin’ in!!! 😮

    I hope all you had a great day with friends and family, the girls and I had a great day with family! Much to be thankful for and optimistic that the year ahead will be better than the last!

    Terry (mixalive) I’m so impressed with your list bands, some big names, validates why you’re the man and now I see why you run sound for more than 100+ gigs in 10 days at South By Southwest! You’re also the Cuda Repair King, you’ve pulled out the stops and pulled miracle saves and restorations, super clean work! You’ve been a great friend and a big help to many on this board and I’m really glad to call you my good buddy in Austin!

    Vinny (vpc66) you and I have had plenty of laughs, our questionable taste in humor has offended and brought smiles, and I thank you for jumpin’ in because I think that’s great! During the time you’ve been on this board you’ve brought so much enthusiasm and energy, it gets pretty quiet on this forum, and time after time you’ve been faithful in posting and kept it going. I can always count on your posts to kickstart this gang, thanks! I really appreciate what you’ve brought to this group and you are definitely a welcome friend to all us Cudaheads!

    Will (willywill) you have always impressed me with your thought provoking contributions to this board. God knows I don’t hit anyone with much deep thought on here but you always do and it’s always done in a positive way. I genuinely appreciate the kind words about my art!     Derek (pee30wee) you are one funny cat! I’ve laughed so hard at some of the things you’ve posted, I enjoy your humor and look forward to your replies when I toss out something questionable. I’m also super impressed brother, an executive chef, that’s awesome! I said if the art thing didn’t work I was going to culinary school to be a chef. I consider cooking to be one of the greatest arts, the passion involved, and you get to enjoy eating your craft! I do 90% of the cooking in my home and my little one tells her friends that her dad is a chef… that makes me quite proud! I love cooking for my girls and when I can share the kitchen with them, it’s such a time!

    I can’t forget Mark, The Grand Poobah, that started all this (twice) and brought us together… thanks for everything buddy! Your passion for these bikes has translated into a gathering place for some super people, seriously you Cudaheads are the nicest people and I’m happy to consider you my friend! However, willywill said, “…Cudaheads are a sexy as hell bunch!” That’s where I jump ship… I do not think of any you bastards as sexy! My wife, she is sexy to me, from the first time I saw her… you guys, not so much! Oh yeah Derek, you said, “And -Don- she is WAAAAAYYYY to cute for you.” Man, don’t you think I know that!!! To this day, it still boggles my mind, and she is almost 10 years younger than me too! So, very much to be thankful for… family and friends… thanks guys!!!

    Thanks for the kind words! Besides bikes, artwork is the only thing I’ve done my whole life, my mom started me oil painting when I was 3. I’m very lucky because my wife is an artist and my daughter will definitely be one too… she has way more natural talent than I ever did! I included a picture of my sweets, my little one is just 6 in the pic and now she is 7 1/2. They both love bikes, almost as much as I do, so I count myself very blessed!!!

    Oh okay, that’s a simple fix, just swap out it out for a new sealed bearing bottom bracket, like a Shimano UN-53 (or -54 or -55) with a 68/73 shell with widths up to 118… you can’t go wrong! Jenson USA sells them for $10.00 with a price match on any other site’s pricing but 10 bucks is pretty hard to beat! Here’s a link:

    On a different note, here’s a pic from today after I installed the new tires, swapped out seatpost (silver for black), and installed some vintage XT platforms. If any of you happen to come across these M730 XT pedals for a good price, I’ll gladly buy them from if you don’t want them… I love ’em! These were phased out in ’93 and Shimano went to the much smaller, more angular XT pedal… these are more like vintage BMX pedals. That’s how mine got so scratched up, I had them on my race bike. Anyway, I love my 96’er… pee30wee can call his a 69’er all he wants… I’ll include a picture for inspiration! ;)

    a magazine article shot from last year about my artwork and a self-portrait…

    however, now the front/top of my hair come down beyond my chin with the sides/back high and tight… mohawk when I feel like it and slick back the rest of the time.

    Best of luck on the Surly fork, it’ll be a real score at that price! I hope it works out, I can’t say enough about the 96’er build, it’s awesome! My wife has been riding my A2L, the last time I road it, the 26″ wheel set up felt awkward after being on the 96’er for the past couple of months. I still ride my full suspension Psycle Werks, it’s a 26″ bike, but I guess the full suspension masks the awkwardness of the 26″ hardtail. Let me know how it goes, I really think you’d dig the 96’er, it’s a total blast!!! I swapped the tires today, so the 96’er tires are all yours if you want them.

    Yep pee30wee, still riding and loving every bit of this bike! Thanks to you and vpc66 for the kind words, I appreciate it, always nice to hear feedback from people you respect! Your A2R would be a great frame to do a 96’er conversion, the geometry is pretty well suited, and since you’re a tall guy that’ll help even more. I took a look to see if you have anything near you for the build, you’re in luck!

    I’d offer the guy $50.00, it is brand new and they do go for $110.00, but if it’s a useless part to the guy. Since you’ll only need a single disc brake, I can help you out, I have an extra set of Hayes mechanical disc brake. I can sell you a single super cheap. You’ll only need to land a 29er front wheel and you’ll be well on your way. You can have my set of tires pictured on my RASKAL, I’m putting a new set GEAX tires on today. See, you’re build is already coming together.

    Yeah, the girls (wife and daughter) at home are pissed at me today, bikes getting in the way (as usual), they headed to Disneyland with our annual passes and I stayed home to mess with my collection. Get used to it, by that I mean get used to them being pissed at you, that would be my advise to anyone when it comes to what we love… the women and bikes in our lives! Speaking of my collection, I’m off…
