Dropping $81.00 for a Marz Bomber is a good price! You’ll be very happy with that fork, it’ll go great on your A2T! I would grab up every Bomber or White Brothers fork under a $100.00, I had a few of both and they are solid and last forever with very little upkeep. Niika, your A2T is shaping up nicely! Congrats!-D-

Yep! The seller has it listed for about 10% of the original, out-the-door price… $1,299.00 retail plus tax. Sweet deal for a Tange SuperLite frame, 25 pounds according to the catalog but it’ll be more with that poopy RST fork. I would but I could see my wife now… 🙄- February 18, 2011 at 4:08 pm

Niika,That’s a great fork! I’ve always been a big fan of the Marz Bomber forks, especially the Air Lite Bomber! Marz was putting out an awesome fork in the later 90’s and they still are from what I’ve read and been told by friends. Those Italians have a knack for building quality cycling gear!

Hey Cudarider,I’d have to say 1986 Schwinn Sierra “black chrome” model.
Here’s one, the pic from the ad matches (included):
http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/dak/bik/2207182119.html
Reference the parts on yours against MOMBAT’s Schwinn specs page:
http://www.mombat.org/Schwinn_Specs.htm
Not too many models and years got the 4130 frame with the black chrome finish. Nice bike!
Peace,

Here’s one Mark, very versatile listing…http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220738755142#ht_720wt_1141
The seller relisted this fork and dropped the price slightly.
Good luck!

John (J.P.) Parker started Yeti in Agoura Hills, just above Los Angeles… I bought a “FRO” (For Racing Only) from him in ’89 (I still have the paperwork somewhere), awesome light frame that came with no warranty. Crazy feathery light steel frame that broke, as time would tell, almost every FRO I ever heard about broke. Great time to be in mountain biking… titanium was getting popular as was anodized parts… memories. No one back then could have seen the day when it’s not uncommon to drop $5,000.00 on a carbon (coffin) that was built in Taiwan! Not me, steel is real but more over is steel is not going to explode and splinter under more! I have the scars on the inside of my calf where my front Spinergy carbon blades had an epic failure and nearly impaled me! No carbon for me!- February 13, 2011 at 10:13 pm

Niika,You don’t want to mess with that… it’s expensive plus you would spend a bunch shipping it over here. Check this one:
I can vouch for the Manitou Comp, I have one, they’re a good fork. Plus, you can rebuild them like Mix and I did with Wings Suspension springs. Offer the guy $60.00 with shipping included, he’ll probably go for it. If something happened and you didn’t get the Mani Comp on Ebay, you may be able to buy my Comp fork, Mix wanted it for his ‘Cuda Comp but I never heard back from him. Plus mine isn’t as faded as the Comp on Ebay. Mine has threaded steer tube, so you could pick up this nice NOS Barracuda stem, I bought one and it’s a beauty!
Good luck!

C’mon Mark, don’t be so humble! Greatness is relative to motivations, actions, and results… we all have a love for these bikes but you started and built this site twice! Faced with the notion of rebuilding everything after your loss, you could have shelved it entirely, but you chose to build again and share your interest. That to me is greatness! The time and sacrifice you’d freely given, so we can come together and create a community that appreciated what Barracuda was about in the early days with their beliefs as well as their bikes. What you’ve done has helped to bring together a great group of people and I’m stoked to have met so many nice people that I consider my Cudafriends… don’t downplay your achievement! Many have benefitted from your willingness to share!Besides, no one can wear a leopard fez better than you! All hail King Cuda!!!

Top move Manbeer, way to step up and be available!!! You’ve always been in my circle of Cudafriends!Best regards,

Mark,The new changes are great and are a definite improvement, well done! It’s only been 5 months and you’ve added so much to the site that wasn’t there before. I appreciate all your hard work… we get to reap the benefits of your labors, just one of the many reasons why I support this site and post as frequently as my schedule allows. Plus, you’re the King Cudahead, kinda’ like the Grand Poobah (ala Fred Flintstone cartoons and The Loyal Order of Water Buffalo), so you get to wear the spotted fez!
Keep up the great work!

p.s. Sorry if I wasn’t supposed to post your pic from the last meeting, but all agreed that you were looking so dapper!!!

Check this thing out…I came across this on RideMonkey, I was searching for info on Dave Southwell and this thing popped. Here’s what info is listed with the posting:
“And even stranger still….. What do you get when you mix some steel tubing, an old KX80 fork, a Trek TC3 swingarm and a Progressive Suspension pull shock from a Schwinn/Buell- downhill racing Barracuda style!
What’s even more strange is that one of the owners of Barracuda Dave Southwell showed me another bike that had the pivot high up at the seat tube junction (think Slingshot) and had the same pull shock attached to welded in clevises in the downtube- a very scary URT design.”
Mark, have you seen this before? Anyone else? Did anyone see this at Mammoth or any of the other NORBA downhill events?
I dig the motorcycle forks off an old Kawi, a very funky design!

p.s. Pretty cool thread, loads of early (scary) full suspension designs:

Hey Terry,After you’ve hit the trails a few times with your Comp, how about a review comparing the ride quality of your A2M (double butted crmo) versus the Comp (Tange Ultimate).
Thanks,
-D-
*** I don’t want to hijack Mix’s thread, so if anyone else wants to weigh in on the ride quality between your Cudas, please start a new thread. Thanks! ***

Mix,You’re heartless! I’m not selling anything to you ever!!! All my babies have pet-names… none of my gals will ever forgive you for being so evil and mean! Sweet Goldie, she especially wants to do a bunny-hop on your spine and she wants to have a talk with your Comp when it arrives! I wouldn’t cross her, she’s tough as steel, well she is steel but still…
