Definitely ! ! !Those look like Magura Hydraulic Brakes and Time ATAC Carbon pedals. It’s not a great picture but it looks awesome to me!!! No beating that price!

Hey Manbeer-Nice score on the jersey… that’s cool that you have the full race kit (long and short sleeve race jersey and the windbreaker)! Probably not too many Cudaheads with a full race kit. When this recent win arrives, you gotta take some pics of the race kit and post it in the swag section.
Any additional info on doing some repop kit?

Good mornin’ Cuda,That’s an easy one for your LBS, go hit them up for that cable retainer screw, they should have a drawer/bin full of little crucial bits. If they’re cool, it should be free. When my buddy owned his shop, he’d pull a new one off a derailleur that was still in the box, his parts rep or Shimano rep were always happy to spot replacement parts and keep Shimano’s name a “happy” thing for the customer. Truly it should be no problem getting you one at your LBS, if it is, hit up another shop.

Nice choice on the the Marz Bomber fork, not too sure why I don’t see more retro builds using that fork, that is one of my all-time favorite forks. It has the retro vibe but lacks nothing in performance quality. I especially love the black lowers and the Marz logo brake bridge. That should be a nice light weight bike when you’re done, nice job so far Cuda!!!Are you going to run a front disc brake (v-brake rear) for performance or keep it more period correct?

Hey Cuda,I’m not big on running out and buying new component if I have an existing part that’ll do the job, but in this situation, Mark is correct and a new bottom bracket is best. There were a few companies like Sugino and Suntour that had a thin spacer for getting an exact fit but those BB were never intended for use in the dirt. They were mainly for track applications and some road use.
If the threads on your bottom bracket are not well and “seated” tightly on both sides of the BB shell, I guarantee that water will find it’s way into your frame. Obviously, with a steel frame, that will kill your frame’s integrity (especially where the chain stays and BB shell come together. My buddy (on the East Coast) had an older Specialized frame with the thin wall Ritchey Logic tubing, he was cleaning the frame after a ride and saw what he thought were paint bubbles on the inside of the chain stays just behind the BB. He scratched one of the bubbles and exposed a hole where water had eaten completely through the chain stay tubing. Knowing his frame was wasted, he started digging into both inner sides of the stays, and it’s a miracle he didn’t bust the frame and his neck! I say all this because when he sent me the close up pics, both sides of the BB cups were not snugged up on the shell. So, between the mud and water on the trail plus his hose down cleanings… that water found it’s way into the low spot on the frame and did his frame in. I asked him to remove the BB and take some pictures. The Shimano BB had rust pitting, it was covered in rusty water residue, and the entire BB shell was rusted throughout. All that from a poorly fitted bottom bracket!
Sorry to be so long-winded, but for the cost of a new BB, it’s so worth having a proper fit, plus the performance of a new BB is a big bonus (IMHO).

Mark may have some additional light to shed but according to the bike chart, the A2BS was new in the ’97 catalog and appears to have retailed for $725.00… so, it would be a mid-line bike like my A2L and would likely have been an overseas outsourced bike. I doubt that it would have been a NY, USA made at that point.-D-

Good morning Cuda,I raced BMX for years, almost always the standard was 25.4mm (aka 1.0 inch) for all seat posts. That was the beauty of BMX, if you wasted your frame, it was never a total loss because all your parts would swap straight over to the new frame. We used to jokingly mess with a guy’s bike by swapping the the 1″ quill “gooseneck” and bars with the 1″ seat post… crazy ugly way to screw with someone right before a race! If those seat posts are less than 26.0mm, I’d lay a bet that they are 25.4. I only saw a couple of oddball seat posts that were 25.6 and 25.8 and those were on Italian race bikes back when I raced in the 80’s.
Hit up your LBS, they should help you out with hesitation (if they’re worth anything).

Now you’ve got me thinking Manbeer, this is the only ‘Cuda that I recall seeing that has a matched painted rigid fork. All of them I can remember had white rigid fork. I previously looked this bike up on Bikepedia to confirm that it was a 1993, ’93 Cudas were the only year that came with EXAGE components. It’s the painted fork that has me going! I had a ’92 Yeti Ultimate, it had the “oval” steel top tube. I could almost swear the Ultimate was made from Aero-Lite tubing. I do see a spot… adhesive residue… paint chip… where the Made In Taiwan decal would be but it’s impossible to know from the tiny picture.Please let me know if you have a rigid fork Barracuda that has a matching paintjob, the year too please (if you know it).

I contacted the seller, she said someone jumped on it only hors after listing the for sale ad. She did say he planned to clean it up and relist for a higher… great! 🙄So, look for this one to pop up again in the future, likely spooted by one of us. I grab the screen shot for reference in the future.

I had a 1980’s Schwinn Cimarron, the one with the fillet brazing, I recall it had a 26.? seat post. I just checked Sheldon Brown’s seat post database, (here’s the link)

he list a Mid-80’s Schwinn Sierra as using a 26.4 seat post. I’ve always found the Harris Cycles/Sheldon Brown site to be very accurate. I had the pleasure of speaking with Sheldon a few times, he was such a generous man, he would take cycling questions from complete strangers and do his best to get the correct answer. God rest his soul, cycling lost a great statesman when Sheldon passed 3 years ago!
You could always hit up your LBS, take the frame in as they should have a seat post micrometer, that’ll tell you an exact measurement to the 1,000ths of an meter. That’s what I did with my A2L, the previous owner butchered the bottom of the Barracuda (logo) seat post. They measured the ID of the seat tube as 29.394mm, so a 29.4 seat post was the one.

Good luck!!! I hope someone on here gets this handlebar! I need that bar for A2L, to go with my NOS matching ‘Cuda stem. I’ve emailed the seller three times on previous postings, he has relisted the bar numerous times during the past month, never a reply… pain in the a$$!!! I get the fact that he snubbed me on shipping the bar but my sister lives in the same city, I explained that she could meet up locally with cash in hand… still no reply! I guess he just wants to keep listing the ‘Cuda bar but can’t stand parting with it or something!Frickin’ nightmare Craigslist people ! ! !
