My buddy got a Mail Order Russian Bride…

All he got from us was πŸ˜†

Until she cleaned out his accounts – A N D – stole his boxer puppy…

    So he was πŸ˜₯

Two years later, he’s still a little 😳

And yes, we do still give him a hard time :P

    -D-

p.s It worked out in the end, 6 months ago our buddy is a cop and had a friend over at INS pull her paperwork… it seems it was not in order… so they put her on a plane back to Mother Russia! We all had a collective πŸ˜† but before they deported her, our buddy (the cop) got Tyson (the boxer, no longer a pup) back and returned him back home. Everybody, except Katya, lived happily ever after! ;)

Yep… I strive for that level of bike fab’in skill… all of them are works of art but the trike is my favorite hands down!

How many other tricycles can you imagine having a teak logo tread pad, a Phil hub on the front, and teak grips with logo end caps? Oh yeah, down forget the lugged stainless steel construction! Sacha joked once that after his daughter outgrew the trike, he’d sell it for $1,000.00… the nutty part is there’d be a line of collectors clambering to buy it!!! It’s nice that he didn’t sell her tricycle. I’d sure love to have it! I could see my dumba$$ trying to take it down the hill in front of our home after tossing back a couple glasses of liquid courage… I can see it now…

    first… :D

    then… 😯

    finishing with… 😳

with my wife giving me… πŸ™„

    and my daughter… πŸ˜†

    (been there, done that ! ! !)

Relaxin’ with a few cold brews sounds perfect ! ! !

Yes, I’m leaving the raw steel exposed. I wanted to get away from a solid color, there’s enough of that out there, and I wanted to do something unique. The frame and fork have been clear coated, so rust won’t be an issue. I’m thinking of having my car pinstriper do some crazing stuff but that’s just one idea… I have options.

I’m an artist so solid colors don’t get me warm and fuzzy. Two builders who have inspired me to start making my own frames are John Slawta of Land Shark and Sacha White of Vanilla Bicycles. Superb eye candy mixed with the purest artistry in frame building. Have a look if you don’t know these two craftsmen!

The mountain bike pictured is just one of the countless paint jobs John has come up with the years. The tricycle and child’s bike were built by Sacha for his daughter, both inspire me so much! Just to give you an idea of what people are willing to pay for fine handcrafted bicycles, Sacha has a waiting list 5 years long. In 2007 when I inquired about a custom bike, the base frame (without a fork) was $2,150 and with numerous custom possibilities, a frame and fork alone could easily cost over $4,000. The paint jobs are works of art! His frame painter takes anywhere from 5 to 10 weeks, insane commitment to detail. God, they are gorgeous!

Right on! I knew someone back there would have been on it, well done! Cuda, are you taking a road trip?

That current set up seems wacky to me… the seat is low compared to the riser bars… makes it look like an around the neighborhood hybrid cruiser. Yuck!

I guess I’m a sucker for aesthetics but I really dig the matching blue anodized rims and chainring (never a fan of that Sugino “Impel”/”Imperial” crank though). I’d dump that riser bar and find a matching blue Hyperlite flat bar… maybe a blue Tioga seatpost or stem too. Sweet ride on the cheap!

Cool deal… memory fades with age… but pathetic bent saddles are here to stay!

Just imagine a crazy downhill section, you drop in, and the next thing you know you’re using the family gems for suspension as you straddle the top tube! 😯 Maybe he busted his suspension and that’s why he’s dumping the ‘Cuda so cheaply!

    Sith-

Believe me, I almost did many times… but, after shaming myself (again) with Fluffy over in the Marketplace, I thought it best to leave that one for the next guy! Great minds and all the shite…

Slightly related sidenote, when my buddy Mark opened his Bike Shop TCB (yep, and Elvis wink), he printed up a bunch of nice baseball style ringer shirts that said “Servicing your mom since 1996”. I sure do miss that shop, it’s brutal when a great LBS goes under!

    Hey all-

I’m planning to tear down my 56cm 2004 Cannondale Team Saeco road bike, it simply doesn’t get used as I have another road bike I prefer. I’ll part out the frame/fork, wheels, and drivetrain. Everything is in great condition with very little use. If anyone is interested, please feel free to PM me.

I figure I’ll post here and hopefully help out a fellow ‘Cudahead before I try Craigslist and eventually the dreaded Ebay.

    Thanks!

The seller ended the auction early… did anyone on here make an offer?

Bought affordably sounds better, but cheap is an understatement… those “Floating Platform” SPD pedals cost more than you “acquired” the ‘Cuda for.

Think of it Mix, since Mark restarted this site, your stable of ‘Cudas has tripled in size! Nice… always glad to help a buddy!

Now, that’s funny!!! I’m about as gangsta as Opie Taylor with a angry hangnail.

I’ll wait and see if anyone weighs in on a recovery thread. I figure I already tarnished myself by going after Fluffy in that Bitterroot ‘Cuda dispute 😯 … I’ll play this one a little more cautiously.
(see an old dog can be taught new tricks ;) )

    I promise to be sweet, kind, and lovable… April Fools ! ! ! 😈

    Ditto +2 Mix…

I lover a good recovery story! Nothing better than rising to the challenge, not being a victim, and coming out of it with hot dice rollin’!!! I’ve tried very hard to explain to various friends (and family) over the years, these are so much more than mere bikes! Something like a guru, therapist, or spiritual advisor… that is until my lil’angel was born… she is now the guru, etc..

Sith, man that’s awesome, congrats on the great young family!!! :D I know Mix has a little dreamboat about the same age as mine, little girls melt daddies’ hearts! You’re done, man, face it. ;)

    -D-

p.s. Should we start a recovery story thread? I got a doozy but I’m afraid to post it, someone will call me a thug (like one person did on a different site)!

Rad Sithlord… nice score on the mid-school SE! I’m jealous! I occasionally give myself a swift kick up the backside for giving my ’85 and ’92 PK to my nephew, don’t get me wrong, he loves and cherishes them but I still miss ’em!

Cool little bit about my LBS, Scot “OM” B. sometimes pops by unannounced because his buddy Mikey (“Franzee”) has always stuck by OM and SE through all that’s gone down over the years. I used to make it out to the track in LB when I was a kid and watch those kings fly… some of my best bike memories!

Sithlord (or anyone else), what’s your best SE story or memory?

    The good ‘ol days, man…

    -D-

p.s. Sithlord, you need to get up on here more often, you’re a vet from the previous ‘Cuda site. I’m not critiquing you, just value your input.
