what i’d really like is an a2fast (if i could find one).
thx for reading my tale of woe & stupidity 😆 🙄
Hey jcw_mtb,
Man, we’ve all done the exact same thing… maybe some woe but no stupidity!
I saw your new ad on Craigslist…

…cheeky devil, referencing the old Catamount frames in your description!
This one is not mine but it popped up near me the other day, I could inquire for you if you’re interested. Obviously, it’s been repainted but who knows, it could be a Comp or an A2X.

Let me know if you want me to hit the seller up about what model is under all that paint.

Too true, wouldn’t we all give it a go!
My little one walked in and saw the picture of the muffin top with the racing stripes… she wasn’t pleased, she was concerned that the fine specimen pictured would get her feelings hurt by my bullying. So, sweet and innocent!!! I love that about her and I held her tightly and whispered that if that women were her right now she might try to eat her (“pee-wee” my angel) for a snack! She couldn’t run to mom fast enough! Then came the foot steps…

I hope you enjoy the rides with your daughter the same way…it is a Great feeling
+1 Amen brother!

My six year old angel just moved up to a 20″ wheel bike after dropping the training wheels on the 16″ Barbie bike. My daughter is also tall for her age and has developed a love for bikes! Hey vpc66, maybe you’re my doppelgänger, you in Florida and me in Cali, we seem to have identical stories… right one!!!

True but the guy jacked up the threads on the small chainring mounts on the spider. Foolish chimp! 🙄 However, of all the luck, my LBS had a NOS XTR spider… and exact match for replacement and they hooked me up as it only cost me a 12 pack of Red Hook ESB ale. Score!!!I’m still looking for another Octalink bottom bracket, please let me know if any of you find one for a fair price. Thanks!

Exactly!!! I think it worked too… if I squint my eyes, she is almost a blur! Wait a second, that’s not why I’m squinting…
dimpled knees!!! 😮You know, I saw that make over show where everyone is beautiful ( 🙄 )… high lights around the face, draws you attention to her facial beauty… and keeps your eyes from drifting down to her ginormous center!!!

If they don’t have the parts you need try the “Hippie”…http://www.hippietechsuspension.com/HTS/HOME.html
My friends have had a number of forks redone by them, they always come back like new, but it might cost more than you care to spend. I don’t know why, some jobs have been great deals and others have been expensive. It might be worth giving them a call if you’re out of options.
Good luck!

Thanks for the reply ctk… I too share your riding style when it come to a 1×9 vs. a 3×9. The 69’er I’m building will have a similar set up as well, I’m running a single chainring with a bashguard and using a chain watching. I have an oldie from the early 90’s when I built my first 1x_, it was called a “Third Eye” chain watching devise. It’s super simple as it’s nothing more than a racheting hose clamp with a plastic sleeve over the top but it always worked well. If I find my chain to be jumping, then I will go with a Ngear like you used. Back then, there weren’t many choices in alternative components, everything was 3x_ (6, 7, or
depended on your budget and desire to have the newest thing. I guess it’s not so different these days but I’m pleased to see a newer platform developing with the 2×10 or 2×11 drivetrain. It seems pretty smart to me if your can run an 11-36 cassette, the gear overlap should be able to get your butt up the hill. For me the big added bonus is the tighter crank area. By eliminating that third chainring, you can bring the crank in and in doing so you really improve your chainline. I guess that’ll be my next move, build up a 2x_ drivetrain, but I’ll wait until a few friends have built their bikes to see how well it works (maybe I can score a cheap drivetrain if a buddy hates it
).
