    Yep, I would definitely go with a black to set off that fantastic looking paint, I really love the stem!

    What drop bar were you running on the previous build?

    Still got the 96’er… after all the effort to get that bike built, there’s no way i could tear it down.

    The Yeti Ultimate knock off is a 1990 Nishiki Ariel, it’s quite a bit larger than the 1989 Nishiki Alien 96’er. My goal was to try to build up a more modern version of the classic dirt drop bike, like my MB-1. I needed a larger frame for safety and the front end is where the differences show up… threadedless vs. theadless fork, threadless vs. threaded headset, and tall quill stem vs. tall threadless steer tube with short threadless stem. You can see in the photos that the reach and bar height are pretty much spot on.

    Anyway, I’m really looking forward to seeing your A2X develop!!!

    Aw man that sucks V.!!! Stinkin’ Cuda curse strikes again!

    If it were a steel frame, I’d say ride and watch the crack but aluminum frames were not 6061 nor were they heat treated, so that aluminum could simply snap… I’d hate to see ‘ya go down and possibly hurt yourself pretty bad! Best to hang that bike up until you sort out the repair.

    I recently rebuilt my favorite bike, (sorry but it’s not a Cuda) a 1992 Bridgestone MB-1, it has a full build of Suntour XC Pro… perfect every time without fail!

    Both my MB-1 and my Yeti Ultimate “Knock Off” Nishiki Ariel have On One Midge bars… I think that bar is one of the finest British exports and it’s become my favorite bar for all mt dirt drop builds!

    p.s. My little angel painted my Yeti tribute bike, she and I picked out the colors but she painted everything… pretty awesome for only having just turned 8 years old. She also picked out the parts going in the bike, it’s one of out daddy/daughter things to do this summer. She talks about building custom bikes one day, that would be pretty awesome!

    Ouch! Two years… at least you are commuting and staying connected to one of your bikes! Snatching the misses and the babies and heading to the country sounds wondering! My wife would go in a heartbeat but not until we are debt free, I’m done but we need to finish paying off her student loans. Fingers crossed for the first of 2015 and we’ll go from there.

    I still want to see a photo of the little ones, thanks!

    You wouldn’t happen to be the same Dennis in Durango that sold me the 12″ ‘Cuda A2Z last year, the one that belonged to Eric Sakadinsky? You sent along the Barracuda water bottle with the frame for my daughter.

    Right on ctk, congrats on the little one!!! You gotta get a photo of the two of them together and share it was us. My little angel turned eight last month, she looks 10 or 11 (that’s what people are always telling her) and thankfully she loves riding! I’m lucky, she is a great kid, and doesn’t give us any trouble… I feel fortunate!!!

    Mighty nice bit’o’history you have there!

    So, I’ll pick your brain on this one… I have one of Lisa Muhich’s race jerseys, what vintage is this one? Considerably fewer sponsors, does that denote an older jersey? I’m just asking as I don’t know the answer myself.

    From the sounds of yours with XTR, this one would seemingly be a very similar build. Somebody snagged a damn fine bike for a great price!!!

    With regard to our Yeti Ultimate “wanna be” project, she painted the frame and fork today and she did a great job! A couple little spots where she went a little too light/thin with the turquoise but this will give me a chance to show her the between coats prep steps. She’ll get a little more practice with a second coat of turquoise and we’ll get on to building up the frame. This is proving to be a really fun time, we’re having a blast with each step of the way! Thanks!
