    Nope. Not my photo but I do recall that kook trying to sell the bike on Ebay and failing a couple times. No doubt, I wouldn’t trust that guy, super sketchtastic!!!

    Jesus! Nice gams… just a bit of leg showin’ with those Daisey Duke shorts! Were you going to dance class or to run a marathon when you jumped off the kit? I don’t recall high cut tight shorts being the thing but the photo proves it was in fashion.

    I have sprayed my own but I prefer to let the pros handle it. I’m fortunate because I have a good buddy that owns his own high end paint and body shop plus there is a wrought iron fence guy that’ll sand blast and powder coat a frame and fork for $65.00. He did the Cimarron pictured above. You won’t get any crazy colors with him but for standard white though black and most colors in between he is about half the price of any other powder shop.

    The bike gods must like me right now…

    Today I bought a set of wheels for the tires, a pair of gumwall Ritchey Mega Bite Pro tires in very nice condition. I paid the full asking price of $30.00 for the tires, I wasn’t going to haggle with the guy because he was including the wheels that the tires were on for free. The owner was a roadie, he did have some nice bikes, but he wasn’t a mountain biker and could care less as the 26″ set was left behind when his roommate moved out. I was stoked, I got a nice pair of vintage tires and what felt like a light weight wheelset for cheap. I cleaned up the dusty, cobweb covered wheels and was floored by what I found. As it turns out the wheels are custom built with Suntour Superbe Pro hubs laced to Mavic X231’s with DT Swiss double butted spokes and a Sachs Winner Pro 7 speed hub. I’ve been fortunate enough to come across some really good deals over the years but this ranks right up near the top! These wheels will be ideal for my ’88 Schwinn Cimarron LE, my all purpose commuter and trail bike that I restored earlier this year. Everything about the build came out great but I did not have a nice set of wheels worthy of the bike until now. I’ll include a few progress shots of the before/after and get some complete photos tomorrow with the new wheels.

    After seeing rbonif’s recent purchase, the red ControlTech 130mm with 5 degree rise stem, that reminded me of the hideous KORE stem on my A2L and how much I hate it! So, to remedy the situation I made an offer on a gold Tioga stem. The Ebay seller called it a ControlTech stem but he was wrong (notice the handlebar clamp difference), he wanted $40.00 with an additional $6.00 for shipping. I offered $24.00 and the seller accepted… $30.00 on a used stem is more than my typical comfort zone. However, It is just the right gold, so much so that I believe it’ll be a perfect match for the gold anodizing on the White Brothers fork. I wasn’t motivated purely by aesthetics, the 130mm length with zero degree rise is perfect for the A2L’s geometry. Also, I picked up the matching NOS Tioga bar and post, I really wanted to keep with the Tioga for my aftermarket components.

    Yes, that post will work with a 27.2 to 29.4 shim. I actually had that exact same Cuda post at one point, I had a KGB titanium mountain frame that was built up as a singlespeed commuter… 14.6 pounds! Please excuse the build, it was purely a recycled parts build, definitely not the best looking bike I ever put together but it was just to test the strength and flex of the frame. Way too much flex for this old chubby track racer!!! As long as you don’t exceed 29.4 on the shim that post will work great. Here is a link but any 2.2mm shim will work since 27.2 to 29.4 is a standard size.

    Off the top of my head, I believe it is 29.4, I’m about 90% sure of that number. I have a butchered short “BARRACUDA” post that you are welcome to but it would need to be a short need. I’d suggest buying a 27.2-29.4 shim and then run a 27.2 post, you’ll have way more options.

    Believe me… XX Cuda wind chimes… that was me exact thought when I saw the $20.00 B.I.N. but then I was gobsmacked by the $102.15 shipping fees. If you Paypal me $150.00, I’ll pick ’em up and make you a set of your own chimes, it’ll be my first Cuda commissioning! Awesome, thanks for supporting your local artists!

    Here are a few shots of the Swobo Folsom they sent me, this is my commuter, but I’m still playing with the stem height. I can’t say enough about Ben at Swobo and the company itself, awesome customer service and just all around cool stuff and good people!!! I sent a simple email asking if I might be able to buy a “blem” frame on discount… a few days later a new frame, fork, and headset arrived at my home. I couldn’t be happier and I highly recommend checking out Swobo if you have any plans of buying a new bike, you can’t go wrong!!!

    Well, here is an update on the Swobo Otis…

    found another crack in the top of the head tube…

    and I turned the wasted Otis frame with an old chain ring and some recycled brake cables into some Swobo “Death of Otis” wind chimes. Perfect for Halloween, dismembered bike chimes!

    (yes, they sound good, especially the big down tube, zen temple vibe goin’ on!)

    Hey man, did you win the red stem? If so, nice score at $10.99, that’s a steal for a vintage ControlTech stem!!! That one would have looked great on my A2L… instead of that turtle head looking turd of a Kore stem that’s on there now!!!
