First, I use mineral spirits to remove any old glue from the previous chain protector. Mineral spirits works for me but be sure to test on your paint as it can loosen up really cheap paint. Be sure to wipe it down with a water wet rag after cleaning with the mineral spirits.
The paint they used on the Barracuda’s was so cheap that any paint remover will remove the paint. I used that orange environmentally safe paint remover to check for cracks on my XX.
I had an A2R pass through my hands last year, and the silver looked good in pictures, but in person, it looked pretty bad. You might try to clear coat the existing silver to bring it back.
Most bike shops offer a shipping service. That dude with the Easton would just have to drop it off. The buyer can make the arrangement and pay the service by credit card. Just ask him what is the closest bike shop and make the call. That is how I worked the deal on my XX.
