    Hey guys,

    As I stated in another post here, the Crossfire does come up for sale once in a while. I have never seen one in person, but I do know that they were only offerred in the early days. A Yeti creation or Framesmith, I don’t know, but it would definitely have been a bike manufactured in the USA.

    Perhaps it’s just me, but the Crossfire strikes me as being a lower-end bike in the line. I’d love to know more in case anyone really wants to snag one. :)

    Actually, from what I’ve heard, Barracuda moved production all over the place, quite frequently. It wouldn’t surprise me that when they were using American frame builders, Tange was used, but then when the framebuilding was sourced to Taiwan, they used a cheaper supplier.

    After looking at this a bit more, I’d say that this is the same *model* and size that Lisa may ride, but I doubt it’s her bike. There aren’t any sponsor decals which would normally adorn a team bike.

    Welcome to the site!

    The information you’ve provided is great, can you also tell me what size your frame is and (if you know) what year it is? A picture will help me if you don’t know these details.

    Decals aren’t too hard to come by, I’ve got some I’ve been working on, and some others on the site have had some re-created. There are some members on http://www.retrobike.co.uk that are undisputed experts with re-creating any decal you can think of.

    Well you know, as your build progresses, my frame comes to mind and it lights a fire in me. I’m glad we’re going in different directions on this too; I’ll be sticking as close to factory as I can. Our bikes will compliment each other for sure, but in a Cain and Able way.. ;)

    I believe the guys who ran the company are quite interested in keeping out of the spotlight; they made a few enemies when bills went unpaid.

    Yeti doesn’t have records that go back that far, and an inquiry to the other frame builders also turns up nothing. I’m afraid the trail has gone cold. It’s simply a matter of documenting the serials we can, and holding onto those records. Enter yours here!

    As far as restoration goes, you’re going to be hard-pressed to get rid of the paint on top and keep the stuff on the bottom looking nice. You’ll pretty much either have to lay down a new coat on top of everything there is now, and include some decals, or strip it down and then do that.

    Agreed, that A2X looks sick!! Congrats on what you’ve done so far..

    If it were me, I’d clear on top of the decals when you’re happy with the colour choice.

    I keep coming back to the Scott shock, I think it makes a great addition to the bike..

    No problems. This is the basis for my claim:


    This image is of a Tange double-butted cromoly tubing sticker/decal.


    This image is of a similar sticker/decal, obviously stating double-butted cromoly tubing, but the Tange name is absent. This image is of an actual sticker/decal on an A2L. I cannot think of any reason that Tange would leave their name off of the sticker/decal.

    Not certain, but it’s not crafted of the high end tubing. I know it’s double-butted, but it’s not Tange. On a good note, that actually may be a good thing for racing. The Cuda team members I spoke with all told me that the factory A2X frames they were given didn’t last long at all. They all started riding thicker frames made for punishment 1994 onward.
