V1 Octalink bottom bracket

Post by neo_pop_71 »

Hey all,

This is a long shot but I'd rather turn to my 'Cuda family before treading the waters of Ebay... too many idiots!

Does anyone have a Shimano Octalink version 1 bottom bracket in your part bins that you'd be willing to sell? I picked up a XTR single speed crank for a decent price but I forgot that all pre-2003 Octalink cranks use V1, not V2 which sucks because I can pick up a new V2 at Jensons USA for $14.00! I know this is a stretch but I'm hopeful... otherwise, my good deal just got really expensive!!!

Thanks gang!

*** fingers crossed ***

Success... Craigslist came through again! I posted a "want ad" in the bike section, now I'm the owner of a XTR bottom bracket! The seller ever brought it to his work, which happened to be on the way to the zoo (with my lil'angel), so that saved me the 20 miles each way of gas... man, the traffic too!!!

I like to have backup spares, so if any of you come across a M952 XTR bottom bracket for $40.00 or less, please let me know. I'd really appreciate it! I almost can't bring myself to type those words as 40 bucks for a used bottom bracket is kinda' sickenin' but when my LBS wants $100.00 to order in a NOS one, I go with the used one! Hell, I only paid $50.00 for the XTR crank with the MRP bash guard and a new Salsa 38T chainring. So, yep... less would be great!!!

Peace,

-D-

Lucky! Hard to find these without all the wear on the arms from shoes, pants, etc.

True but the guy jacked up the threads on the small chainring mounts on the spider. Foolish chimp! However, of all the luck, my LBS had a NOS XTR spider... and exact match for replacement and they hooked me up as it only cost me a 12 pack of Red Hook ESB ale. Score!!!

I'm still looking for another Octalink bottom bracket, please let me know if any of you find one for a fair price. Thanks!
