Well it has been a year for me on this Forum and I have loved every minute of it. Looking over the bikes that you guys show and learn from the knowledge that you guys have gain over the years has really been good . I hope to be around for many more…Thanks Mark , Neo and Mix….you are the core to this great site…Sorry if I write mushy sometimes….part of being a Cavediver is you learn Fun can be great but things can take a turn for the worse and end real bad if you don’t pay attention,so Enjoy Life, hold buddies dear because the next go around you or they might not be there to enjoy the fun…I know I have been in water with a deceased fellow diver that did not make it out on his own…

    THANKS…..Long Live Barracuda!

They should use the Paralympics folks for ads and such…They truly give everything they can and a lot more to make the big show..That is something for kids to look up to

Wow….You were one of the guys that I thought was a X-bike shop guy…..but with all the bikes you have dealt with you might as well have. With me brakes go easy, but I have never done canti’s so when I do I might scream for help as to what I am doing wrong… I have had a couple of rear derailleurs that drove me nuts because they would be almost there yet not and I would run into the shop before I pulled my hair out or beat the bike with a hammer….then I have had those that fall right into place….

I would think the rear derailleur could be set to stop inline for the high and low gear but the shifter would still have room to move and if you were not paying attention and tried to slam the next gear…Think I would just wait and get the right parts for the job…but that is me

Should have asked the guy how he plan on making it home if he blows a tube miles into the woods on a ride…as a kid you learn how to do that…jezzzz.
I like alot of the same parts as Neo , but I LOVE my SRAM…had the Shimanno stuff early on and could not stand it. Must say for a twist set up you need top Sram parts and only Sram…no other brand that make that type of shifter…Sram weighs less and shifts faster..

Just thought about it….what if he trashes his rear derailler or brakes a chain….what are the odds he carries a chain brake tool and spare links if he does not even carry spare tubes and levers….bet he rides in guided club rides where there is somebody to look after folks like that….

HEY don’t feel bad, some of these guys work or did in the past at bike shops and know their stuff well….as a kid I played around with my bikes and changing parts around….the multi speed set ups are somewhat new to me but from reading how this site was before I sign on I knew there was a core of guys that would give a hand (write how to do something that is) if someone needed help….I figure jump in with both feet to learn and ask info as need be..if that fails no shame in going to a shop till you catch on…unless you need the bike to go to work or something like that they can sit till done. I have grab old parts just to take apart to try rebuild……….Keep at it and enjoy the build.. to me that is just as much fun as riding now and keep writing how things are going because I am right there with you and I will learn off things you do…

P.s. You should be able to pick up Shimmano triger shifters cheap for sure 8 speed shifters…check craigs list and ebay, plus you could hit up local bike shops for take-offs. Sometimes you can find good deals that way and be able to truly see how they are before money is drop on them…What is your rear derailler..is it a sram if so you would need shifters that will work with a 1/1 ratio

, if you ever find one near you that fulfills the nuggets and it’s not stupidly expensive, let me know.
    nd out…[/Over aquote]

You set the bar very high don’t you,I’am always amazed when I see the price they go for….but will remember if I see one that might stay somewhat at a normal price.

I was joking with that line but thanks,Neo has giving me heads up already but it was a no-go due to wrong size…I normally get a little mad money from Income Tax time (If the Wife lets me ) then I will be back at it for real on next build…if I can make up my mind as to what I truly want..which is the problem right now….but if a size 14 frame comes up that just can not be past over…Neo has me hung up now with the single speed rides…was thinking old school with the canti brakes and ridgid forks steel frame…Simple fun ride…
