i couldn’t agree more…I have three spare seatposts in my parts bin that ended up being the wrong size.I would have thought 30 would have been to big…unforunately my 94 A2E is out in the Hamptons which I will not be getting to for two weeks. When I get the chance I will test it with my spare 27.2 post and see if that is too small.

grats on the items…was it a local score?regarding the seat I just got off ebay and was the only bidder at $50 (plus $5 shipping). I was a bit hesitant to pull the trigger as it wasn’t a great price but i thought it was fair and I have been looking for one and it was the right color for the newly arrived A2E that desperately needed a saddle.

I didn’t realize they were uncommon as my second just arrived. I also ordered a SDG 2000 ti seat and a Judy DH with White Brothers upgrade fork to replace the mag21.That being said I still have love my first 94 A2E and am getting ready to take her out today even with the A2V in the shed. Make me a good offer on this one Neo and you can have her. Note the frog and monkey pillows will be extra!!!

I had the seller remeasure BB to middle of top tube and he confirmed that it is 19 inches. He also mentioned that he is the original owner so just some food for thought.Ron

She is back on ebay…What are the chances that my two wishlists, XX and Comp, are listed and they both are 19 inches. I may have to get some lifts or just deal with the larger size.- February 9, 2014 at 1:09 pm

I NEED HELP!!!!I ended up buying it for $185 + shipping ($260 all-in). I didn’t have a 17 inch in the stable and figured this would ride for me or my gf. I think I may have too many bikes now…A2V, A2L, Easton, (2)A2E, A2R and my new Jamis and Trek.
I blame all of you for this!!!

i was surprised as well. I watched it expire without any bids and was so close to bidding on it. I decided to pass as the 19 inch is a tad big for a trail rider.- January 31, 2014 at 7:29 pm

I figured $400 was fair…heck my A2L cost me around $800 to build and the Easton almost a grand.Just need to find a comp and a XX and I may be good for a while.

no he lowered the listed price to $450 OBO with free shipping. I offered $375 he countered with $400 and it was done. The free shipping made th eprice worth it for me.Ron

Hi all, apologies for being MIA but this NY winter really took my ambition away as i haven’t rode in around a month. Anyway I thought what better way to get back into things then adding to my collection. Well I just picked up this one up for $400 (free shipping). I debated the price but figured I had way more into my builds and this one appears to be a time capsule.Anyway I will let you know how it rides when I get it.
Also my kid loved the Easton…he called it “purplicious”.

I didn’t intend to buy the ringle stem as i originally bought a nice Kore Eilite (beautiful turqouise) and an stem adapter as the kore was threadless. Literally a few days later the ringle pops up on ebay and was the perfect color, size and was threaded…I couldn’t pass it up. Now the Kore and stem adapter are in the parts bin…at least they have tons of friends in there.Regarding the bike going to my kid this will be his first Christmas with me since I got divorced when he was two so I am excited to see his reaction. Although I get the feeling it will be trumped by Xbox One and Call of Duty but we shall see.

Thanks D, you haven’t steered me wrong in the past so i will heed your advice. In honesty I actually thought it was a decent bar (guess i got too excited about the color scheme match).I am excited that he will get a chance to ride this weekend. I will have some time to get the build perfect as I will not be sending it to him in Dallas until I am comfortable he won’t leave it outside unattended. Also I think he is maybe one year away from riding it comfortably.

Thanks D…I will give the BB replacement a try (that spaner and non driver side cup removal lingo seems like a major league ordeal…I am still in single A).The good news is I will have almost an extra drivetrain for another build.

We should start a thread listing your biggest bike sanfu’s.So lets see what else have I done besides the above:
1) wrong FD size bought a 28.6, getting that and seeing it was too small I go out and buy a 34.9. That comes and it is to big…apparently I need a 31.8. Luckily they make an adapter from 34.9 – 31.8
2) wrong seatpost size…note to self 27.2 can’t squeeze into a 26.8 post
3) installed my first fork on my A2E without a crown race…I must have looked drunk riding that
4) not all brake bosses are the same size. I now now the difference between a M8 and M10. I am sure I will have the M10 for eternity
5) If you buy a cable hanger for canti brakes make sure they clear the headset. I now have two in my parts bin that wouldn’t fit so I gave up a just bought a mag 21 with the cable hanger attached…cheaper in the long run.
I am sure there are more I just need to look through my spare parts when I get home.
