If you’re looking to sell them, you should list them in the MARKETPLACE forum but don’t bother because I want them!!!My A2L was rigid, then suspended with a 88mm Manitou Mars carbon (screwed up the geometry with too much angle and rake), right back to rigid… if I could ever get my matching gold White Brother UC70 suspension fork threaded… that would be king! The early steel frames don’t handle as well with a long suspension fork, the geo is designed around the rigid fork. I’ve tried a dozen suspension forks with various travels and the Manitou cnc forks (like 1, 2, 3, 4, or Comp) have 55mm to 65mm and that seems to be the ideal. I can pre-load the White Bros and get it down to 65mm and that should be perfect. If they’re rigid, keep ’em rigid… you can’t beat the handling of a straight rigid ford… like a knife!

Damn right Mix!!!SXSW is the greatest gathering of music anywhere on the planet! I dig it!!! Just picture 2,000 bands/performers with 100 venues around downtown and squeeze all those shows into 5 days. Insanity! It’s also like the Texan version of the Sundance Film Fest, hundreds of film being screened all over Austin. There’s also a trade show going on for the techs out there. It generates over 100 million dollars for Austin in only 10 days!!! The thing is nothing short of epic and there is no good way to take it all in! My brother is a drummer who has enjoyed the stages of Austin numerous times and he loves making it back for SXSW every year. If music is your thing, Austin is your place to be March 16th through 20th. Love independent movies? The film fest is going from March 11th through 19th. I’m trying to coordinate a roadie gig with my brother’s new band as we speak, just for SXSW, I’m not looking to live for months on a bus!
Hey Mixalive, can the ‘Cudaheads crash at your home for a few? *** I CALL COUCH ! ! ! ***
(Oh, and as far as my special dietary needs, I’ll need you to get organic…)-It’s a ‘Cuda road trip to Mix’s pad, clog up his driveway around noon on March 15th…
-3:00 criterium beer race, do a lap and drink a beer, official winner will be the last one riding (but we’re all winners!)
-Texas size BBQ and party that night with a night “trials” competition.
-Hangover morning with beer and eggs and it’s off to the venues on our ‘Cudas… sort of a bike pub crawl with the hopes of hearing some good music. Whadda ‘ya say Mix? Cool?http://www.beertownaustin.com/events/bike-pub-crawl/
p.s. Gotta watch out for drunk armadillo speed bumps!!!

Cudarider,Your area of the East Coast is awesome, there is so much going and endless things to do indoors and outdoors. Before I was married, I frequently flew to New York for art show openings and various museum shows. I love the all your seasons back east except summer… you can keep that humidity!!! No thank you!

I live in Southern California, Brea to be specific…
not far from that fool mouse at Disneyland…
thankfully only 30 minutes from the beach and a surf…
happily 90 minutes from the snow and some skiing/boarding…
and 5 minutes from the trailhead!I wouldn’t stay and deal with all the madness (of SoCal) if it weren’t for the geography, not many places in the world that you can catch a surf in the morning and hit the slopes in the afternoon. I live at the base of the hills, so I can hit the trails for some time on my ‘Cuda, some hiking or running with my boxer pup, and logging some miles riding the canyon on my road bike. I’ve never known anything different, I was born and raised here, everything has to do with being on two wheels and enjoying the outdoors with my family!

DEAN bikes are awesome! I regret selling my DEAN titanium frame, the geometry was very similar to our ‘Cuda bikes, long top tube and tight triangles. Great bikes, I wish they hadn’t gone away… lotsa’ good smaller companies popped in the 90’s but folded thanks to Giant, Trek, and the other corporate monster companies and their Taiwanese pricepoints!Manbeer, if you’re hanging with roadies on your ‘Cuda with 2.0 semislicks, you’re going to drop ’em when you get that DEAN under you! The rolling resistance alone says you shouldn’t be able to hang with a road bike, you have 2 to 3 times more friction than that road tire. Go out with the group and when you hit a nice flat spot, big ring it and drop ’em all, then let them catch up and apologize for needing to stretch your legs! I love that!

Oh yeah, that team bike was a goodie, I tossed a bid in early on too! There can’t be any hard feelings, it’s just not cool. I recall over on VCVC, two brothers that lived in the same town and both had ’64 “Scooby Doo” vans, they were both after the same Ebay listing. When the one rubbed his win in the other’s face, the losing brother went to his home and they got in a fight! The winner of the fight posted pictures of his brother after he kicked his butt, the forum had plenty to say and I recall the smilies… ๐ฏ ๐
๐ก ๐ฎ ๐
The brothers were threatened with having their memberships pulled and the postings were deleted. Obviously, that’s extreme but things can get out of hand pretty quickly (especially with keyboard courage)! I just thought it was pathetic, kickin’ your brother’s “can” over car parts and a little ribbing… embarrASSing!!!
Hey Cuda, care to toss out a dollar amount prediction?

I couldn’t agree with you more Cudarider, that is a damn nice jacket! Not often to find a XL Giordana! God, my wife would kill me!
I’ve always been a fan of Giordana gear, top notch Italian kit, they’ve been outfitting the Euro teams for a long time. My favorite jersey is a Gio, the jersey looks like the rolled tobacco of a cigar and the collar is gray like the ash on the burned tip. If I think of it, I’ll take a picture. Someone on here should own this sweet bit of history! If you win, please post it in the SWAG section, thanks!

When I saw Cudarider’s posting I was stoked and couldn’t believe my eyes ๐ฏ … so, I told my wife but the moment she heard the word bike, she was over it ๐ … I started in about how great it would be for her and I got the evil eye ๐ฟ … now, I’ve been reduced to spectator ๐ฅI knew the $1.00 opening bid and no reserve wouldn’t last long but I didn’t expect to see 3 different bidders jump in the matter of a few hours! This used to happen all the time over on the Vintage Chevy Van Club (VCVC) site, we were all clambering for those NOS or rare parts. Guys would call dibs but that never worked out well and someone was always pissed off at another member. I’d hate to see any of that mess happen here! Out of fairness to all, manbeer has already jumped in and let the board know, but there should be hard feelings if another ‘Cudahead on here snipes the bike at the buzzer. Sorry Manbeer, I’m not trying to undermine you, I’m just trying to keep it open and fair because I don’t think this has come up on this board as of yet. Feel free to correct me if I’m mistaken.
I can honestly say that I will definitely not be bidding… my wife just walked in and was massaging my shoulders until she saw the browser open to the Comp listing on Ebay. I know I’ll have marks where those nails dug into my neck and shoulders, I could just barely see the horns as she silently turned and walked out ๐
Anyone care to weigh in on this? I’m curious what everyone else thinks.
How about any predictions for the buzzer? I’ll kick it off with $265.00 closing amount.
Regardless, good luck and happy bidding to all, whether you’re open or prefer to go stealth… it’s sure to be a good one to watch!!!

Hey Mark,There a beauty on Ebay right now, check the MARKETPLACE forum, ‘Cuda posted the link to Ebay and it’s only a $1.00 opening bid and no reserve ๐ฎ … that said, you may have to arm wrestle Mix(alive) for it! I know he’s been after another 14″ frame for a long time. Heck, it might be too small for you but I figure you’d go after it just for the Tange Ultimate!
Good luck!

– “No idea on the total number of (Durango) bikes. I don’t even have a guess, but I may have an answer to this question soon..”Not that you want to jinx yourself but what’s up with the info on the Durango bikes, who’ve you been talking to???
– “To my knowledge the A2Limited was only offerred in 1993.”
Sweet, that’s what I’ve always believed… good to know that there weren’t years worth of overrun while under Ross’ control of the ‘Cuda name!
– “I have a 1993 catalog coming, I’ll be posting good scans when it arrives. Stay tuned!”
That’s awesome, I’m really looking forward to seeing those scans! Mark, 1993 was the first official catalog right? I saw in the PRINT section that you have the ’93 catalog set up for download. I got excited and scrolled the cursor over “download” but nothing happened… dirty sneak, getting my hopes up!- January 20, 2011 at 2:21 am

Hi Mark,Besides the Easton aluminum tubing and the Tange tubing on my A2L, what other tube sets or decals did the pre-Ross Barracudas use? Were there different Tange frames? How about production runs on various models, is there any documentation (or even a rumor) as to how many ‘Cudas were made? Was the A2L offered any other year aside from 1993? I’ve never read or heard anything except for the ’93 catalog. Do you have a ’93 catalog? I’d like to see what the catalog says about my bike.
As always, thanks for everything!

Hi manbeer,I’m not sure why there would be a difference but mine does have the Tange MTB double butted tubing. The more I dig the more I come to understand that Barracuda Cycles was at a constant state of flux, always changing things. Somehow between my #162 and your #620 things may have changed but that may not be the case, they may have simply run out of decals and that’s why yours does not have a decal. Seems too obvious, I know, but I ordered a set of Deda race tubing from Nova Cycles because I’m building my own frame right now and the set came with a DEDA decal. My buddy ordered a different Deda tube set and his didn’t have a decal included, he called Nova, they said the supplier ran out. Maybe a long shot but it’s possible. My seatpost was butchered by the previous owner, I used my micrometer and it measured 29.93mm, so I’m calling it a 29.4 seatpost. Just to be sure, your post is black anodized with “BARRACUDA” laser etched right? I asked another guy on MTB about his A2L seatpost, he said his was stamped ZOOM but had no diameter markings. I know Zoom made a lot of oem branded parts (stems, bars, etc.) for numerous companies. The head of the seatpost and the clamp look like other Zoom posts I’ve seen.
Let me know what your seatpost has marked into it, I’d like to know.
Thanks,

I agree but the 60 bones for shipping forbid me from bidding. I know this bike, someone on here owns it… it had an embroidered “Cuda saddle, then they parted it out and the saddle was on Ebay with a $75 opening bid (or something close to that). I almost positive that it was posted somewhere, I seem to recall someone commenting about all the stickers. I searched the members bikes and the marketplace but no match. I know I’m not crazy, I must be remembering it posted from the previous site.
