Don’t forget the tail light! That’s the deal closer for me! Don’t bother to give hardly any details about the bike but be sure to point out the rack with tail light included… must be a professional salesman!- February 4, 2011 at 3:54 am

Niika,Google servicing the rapid-fire (trigger) shifters, a youtube link will pop about servicing them, 5 minutes and they’re like new. The “old” can be serviced and repaired, it’s the new garbage that’s disposable.
Manbeer,Sorry, but I have to take back what I said (in a previous thread on a different forum) about us being twin brothers as I have not fit in a medium jersey since I was racing “juniors” as a freshman in high school back in ’85. I’m more than happy to extend a “spiritual” hand to you (my anodized brother), so we can keep up our anodized brotherhood!
Brothers?
If not, we could kick off another East Coast versus West Coast, Biggie v. Tupac, rivalry!!! 😯
Just kidding… I’m a plus-size ninja with love in my heart! 😆
Much respect my anodized brother!!!
Peace’fo’real,

Since Eric Carter was our Barracuda “Big Air” rider (featured on this site’s home page), I have to give him plenty of praise. Eric was the king of BMX before he made the switch to downhill mountain biking, he racked up *4* World Championships and *9* U.S. National Championships. The guys at Barracuda were smart to grab Eric, he added instant credibility to the Barracuda name. After Eric moved on from ‘Cuda he raced for the White Brothers/Rotec team. My buddy was the art director at W.B., so I got to meet Eric a few times. Every single time I met up with Eric, whether it be at their offices, on the trail, or at an racing event, he was always the nicest down-to-earth guy. I think his good nature and positivity are the keys to his lasting success. Think back, all but a couple of downhillers from the early 90’s are (forgotten and) gone. Big ego and attitude did them in, it wasn’t the crashes, all these guys (and gals) crashed insanely hard. E.C. will always be a champ in my book, right up there with my hero Johnny T, the greatest ever!!!
Hey Mix,Nice call, flipping your avatar to match your new ranking! I like it, it’s catches my eye, I guess I’m 3 years old that way.
Have a good week!

Manbeer,You and I must have been twins separated at birth… you ended up on the right coast and I ended up on the left coast, we had to have been cut from the same cloth! We differ in the fact that you have a nice display case for your impressive vintage anodized collection, where I keep all of mine stacked in milk crates to hide my “sickness” and it helps to keep the misses off my rear. I love Barracuda bikes and you certainly have an amazing collection but I’m a parts whore and the 90’s was a great time to get anodized! Looking at your bikes, we are brothers in the love of SDG, Ringle, and Kooka. White Onza Porcupines? Where and how? I have big bike regret for selling my “Ned Overend” FSX carbon Judy, seeing yours brings a tear! I toyed with the idea of building up my A2L as a single speed with a red/white/blue Kooka crank, using your r/w/b Kooka crank adds a very nice touch on that bike. It’s nice to know that I’m not the only one with a “habit” of hoarding!
You must be the guy that beats me at the buzzer on Ebay, bastard!
Thanks for sharing, it’ll be a thread that I revisit often, with that much eye-candy how could I not!
Peace,

Bless you Mark… thank you for tolerating my juvenile nature! I usually try to apologize upfront for my wrongdoings that will likely follow.

At least they were only topless as their heading image shows… I’ve seen so many eye-damaging things while trying to support cyclists’ rights, the nude ride is usually the dude ride and it all goes downhill from there! My eyes… my memories still burn!!! 😥- January 30, 2011 at 2:06 am

Sith,You were around (like I was and some others) from the previous life of this site, I recall enjoying some of your postings and comments. Help me out… I posted earlier today in the MEMBERS BIKES forum, mine is the ’93 A2L, do you recall any of the other mods or custom bits that were done to these bikes? I remember there being a strong tech section and I’d like to see that come back. I’d like to get a catalog of customization and post it on the site.
Sorry Sith, I didn’t mean to hijack your thread, I’m moving this to the restoration thread.
Thanks,
-DON-
p.s. That goes for any other vets of the old ‘Cuda site and new members too, if you have done anything custom to your Barracuda… let’s see it in the Restoration Projects forum.

Nice, $43.01 was a great price for that Gio jacket! Probably won’t see another one of those for a good long while. I’ll likely kick myself for not jumping in and winning it! That said, was it someone on here that won the auction? If it was a ‘Cudahead on here, congrats on the win!- January 29, 2011 at 4:05 pm

Cameras, bikes, and nudity… what’s not to like?Oh my god, I take it all back!!! 😯
Niika said, “Personally, I think going around nude should be a basic human right.”
Agreed but not like this ! ! !

Hey Mix(alive)-Was that you in the woods being artistic? Just think two ‘Cudaheads could have crossed paths years ago and not known it… cameras, bikes, and nudity… what’s not to like? Oh yeah, nature is cool too.
Yeah, I like “Never Leaves” much better, you’ve earned that for sure!- January 29, 2011 at 3:21 pm

That’s right, super simple and cheap but totally affective in solving the issue. I wish I could take credit for it but it wasn’t my idea. There were some great threads on mod’ing your ‘Cuda, I wish I would have had the idea to grab all the mod ideas and catalog them. That’s kinda’ my side project now, get an archive of little custom things to do to our ‘Cudas.- January 29, 2011 at 3:06 pm

Hey gang,I’ve decided to tear down my brakes again, when I swapped all the XT parts off my Stumpjumper I decided to stay with the cantilever brakes because the XT shifter/brake pods were too nice not to use. However, the v-brakes are so much stronger and as much as I prefer period correct parts and keeping a grouppo together, I yanked ’em off and installed some Avid Arch-Rivals I had in the parts bin. Since cantilevers and v-brakes don’t play well together, I had to get a pair of “Travel Agents” to take up the slack in the cable.
Here’s my question… anyone else on here running v-brakes? If so, how’d you reroute the cables for the front derailleur and the cable stop for the v-brake? I’d like to see how others solved this problem. This topic was covered extensively on the previous ‘Cuda Cycles site that Mark created but I have not come across anything on this “new” reborn version. Thankfully, I snagged some pics from before, anyone else run v-brakes this way? Different way? Please let me know, I’d really appreciate it!
Thanks for the help!
