Hey gang,Hit the link to Ebay and then check out his other items… he’s already doing well on parting that bike out, plus he’s selling an AMP frame too and a few other bits. It should be a good payday for the seller (until Ebay skins 20% off the booty)!

Hey-I just finished another rebuild on my Barracuda A2L, this time I ran my v-brakes differently as suggested by the mechanic at my LBS (thanks Ben!). It’s somewhat the same principle as I previously posted but this time instead of a long exposed front derailleur cable (see previous posted pics above), the housing runs all the way from the shifter to the cable stop on the back of the seat tube. The only drawback is the use of zip ties but that’s purely aesthetics. The upside is a clean, lube’d, and protected cable… for smooth, crisp shifting! Since the cable mounts run under the top tube, they create a groove for the housing to sit in and all that’s left is to secure with zip ties. I think it came out really well and it’s the best solution I’ve found for running v-brakes.
Whatta ‘ya think?

@mixalive wrote:My 7 speed shifter is history on my 94 Cuda Comp and am looking for a replacement. It has Deore LX combo RapidFire and brake levers. I may have to replace with separate brake levers and shifters. I will purchase the left and right set if required. Tell me what you got.
Hey Mix,
I’m sure I have a set of those for you… I was planning on tearing through some part bins tomorrow, let me see what I can find and I’ll let you know.
Peace,

Man Mix-You are one lucky cat! You said, “…scooched my butt behind the seat in a downhill position,” you’re lucky that didn’t crush your twig & berries!!! You could be on the couch with a frozen bag of peas soothin’ the twins!

Sith-When you get it done, post it in this section. I’m betting that a number of Cudaheads used to roll BMX back in the day, I know I raced for years. Learning to ride/race BMX gave me a huge leg up on the other guys who were road racers that transitioned into the dirt… no background = limited skills and lousy result. My buddy would blow past me every single stinkin’ time on the road, put him on the dirt and he was a total yutz… the second that rear tire broke loose in the sand or dirt… he freaked and his arse dropped!
My buddy who still races seniors told me last week that the “Old Man” has something in the works, almost like regionals with a nationals race for the chamionships but all with an old skool flair! Sounds tasty to me!!! I’d build a whole new bike for that one!
Let’s see the Rippa ! ! !

Oh yeah, sorry Mixalive, buying out of a catalog… not my thing anymore. The shipping has gotten out of hand! Add to that the wait and lack of instant gratification, plus if something is wrong and you have to send it back… no thanks!- May 1, 2011 at 2:37 pm

@Mark wrote:I’ve always wondered about the mail order brides tho.. Was she hot, like the cliche?
Well, I guess she was physically attractive when she was going out somewhere, not when she was loungin’ round the house (which was most of the time), but her nasty attitude stripped away any attractive qualities! We all thought her online bio picture was gorgeous but she never looked like the photo ever once she arrived. Our friend equated it to buying something off the television… it looks amazing in the infomercial, but when it arrives at your door and you use it a few times…

Hey Mix-You can say that again…
What happened, did everyone except us give up the Internet for Lent or something? All the usual suspects have gone mute. Niika was blazin’ the board with all kinds of posts, she was holding it down for the Cuda ladies but pretty light on the chat as of late. I sent some dough to Manbeer for some small bike bits a month ago, but no bits and no word from him either. Weird. I get that riding weather is coming back or is back and we would all rather be riding our Cudas instead of writing about them but it seems there are no Cudas in these waters…

Terry,That’s awesome man! You made that happen, I simply pointed out the ad, and to land The Holy Grail… it couldn’t have happened to a more deserving guy! You busted your rear at SXSW (100+ live shows is crazy) and now you’re enjoying a very sweet reward! You better buy something special to share with your wife and that darling daughter (gotta keep a happy home
)!Enjoy it with pride!

p.s. I’d be stretchin’ the truth to share I wasn’t a bit jealous of your stable… a Cuda Comp and XX Cuda in the last 6 months… damn!!!

Hey Mixalive & Cudarider-Thanks guys, I appreciate the kind word! I value your input and the opinions you both bring to the forum… I’m pleased I put something together that gets a thumbs up from both of you!
Best regards,

p.s. What do yo think of the “RASKAL” decals? The head tube has “ZEN” in the same style lettering. Here’s a brain teaser… +2 if you can name the bike I pinched the decals from (hint: think higher quality American made)

Right on, good to hear you didn’t dump it along the way! You should post some pictures in the MEMBER BIKES section, the full suspensions bikes are seriously lacking amongst the hardtails.
