    Yep, I was talking about the same thing too… you have to be in the groove, lose your focus and it’s disaster time! My buddy is an old skateboarder like me, he was one of the best ramp builders around. Initially it was just the pallets, it liked to to shake the teeth out of your head but later he skinned it in masonite. The masonite added a slick “wash out” effect that wasn’t there with the rough sawn pallets. Once you learned how to drop in at the right angle it was super fun but that learning curve was brutal on the knees and elbows!

    Red Bull has a mini velodrome event that they sponsor, it’s really fun to watch, when you have a free moment you should search it out. I’ll try to provide a link later but now it’s time to ride… 8-)

    What about the A2V in Michigan? I know you posted about it being closer but that’s a rare gem to pop up and the shipping shouldn’t be too bad as you’re not that from from eachother. Plus, that bike is complete and ready to go! Hit up the seller, he may be willing to help you out.

I’m a little shocked that no one on here has moved on this… I’ve recently gotten out of the dog house over a bike and I’m not lookin’ to put myself back in there! :D

    Here is Chris Hoye “The Real McCoy” clinching gold at the 2012 Keirin Track World Cup. The motor bike leads them out for 4 laps and then drops off for the final 2 laps… that’s when the horsepower in the quads kicks in!!! The video is 2:50 but the final 0:50 is awesome as he come from 5th place to win!

    Come out of the groove or come off your line and it’s carnage! As pictured below… can you say NUTBUSTER?!!! It’s hard to imagine how steep the banked turns are until you’re standing at the bottom and looking up at a 45 degree angle banked turn.

    I’ve always enjoyed the Velodrome… the bikes, the speed and skills involved, the beauty of the indoor wood tracks… all of it!

    My buddy built a small Velodrome in his backyard using pallets that he grabbed from around town. Something like the last picture but larger, crazy fun times but not to be attempted after you’ve had a few beers!!!

    That A2V comes up for sale so rarely compared to others models, if it’s your size, I think it would be worth the cost of shipping it. You’d still have a good deal on an awesome Cuda!

    I could be wrong but I thought the original Cuda seats had the same feel as the SDG “S” series saddles, like the S2000… my all time favorite! It may have also been a SDG COMP model too. The big bonus to the both seats was they had a full Kevlar cover and titanium seat rails, so it was super tough and really light weight.

    Yep, I’m right there with ‘ya on the old man schtick… I was a ’70’s BMX junky! I was blessed because I was fortunate to grow up in So Cal and I able to race many of the tracks that Scot “O.M.” Breithaupt set up and sanctioned… it was a magical place and time to be alive! Punk rock bands were forming every single day and cement skateboard parks were popping up all around too.

    You know though, what I miss for my daughter that we had and didn’t know it… no fear… no fear that some pedophile sicko was going to grab a kid!!! We road everyday until the street lights came on and then raced home before mom whooped our butts! I don’t think I could ever rest knowing my daughter is “out there” and I don’t know where she is at any given moment! My wish would be that I could give my daughter the same carefree life that we shared in the 70’s but the world is about a million light years from that place nowadays! Too bad…

    Nice build! I had a yellow Cycle Craft but mine didn’t have all the trick anodized bits that yours does. Man, I forgot all about those top tube cable clips, I loved those, so much better than a zip tie! What do you have a secret stash of BMX goodies? Where are you finding those gems? Porkchop? Ebay? Really top notch build, you gotta post that on the BMXmuseum, they’d love to see your CC beauty!

    How’s the family? Got any pics of the kids?

    Nice to see ‘ya back… not too many Cudaheads from the first gen site still hangin’ bout! Don’t be such a stranger next time, good to know you’re doing well and still building bikes!

    Thanks again! It’s good to have a bit of down time and catch up with all things Cuda! Not that I’m some washed up old cyclist but I’m amazed by what these kids today can do! The bikes have come so far and the riders have risen to push the edge of what’s possible on a two wheeled bike!

    Yep! I bet the gram scale comes out for lightest stem, etc. but how many carbon frames have they had to warrantee for stress cracks? Do you think he has the huevos to bring his spandex back and demand replacements citing manufacturing defects in the elastic?

    At least the guy in this picture passed on the spandex and spent the money on a racing number! I have much more respect for him as a racer, instead of merely being a spectator on the sidelines!

    The Beastie Boys… as punkers we never took ’em too seriously but their energy went off… hip hop they were kings… Adam Yauch aka “Yauch”, aka MCA aka Nathaniel Hornblower did so much to raise awareness about this planet and the people who live on it; he was an incredible artist, musician, filmmaker (directed most of the Beastie Boy videos under the pseuodonym “Nathaniel Hornblower”), a devoted environmentalist, and activist. He inspired many of my friends and I to get involved and do something positive towards change and a greater good. Back in 1991 at a concert “Yauch” encouraged the audience, “Get involved, don’t wait for change, make it happen… you can do it!” Well, it stuck… 20 years later I’m still working with at risk youth and special needs children.

    Rest Peacefully MCA…you brought much joy to many!!!
