Anyone interested in an A2 Limited (14″) in very good condition? I’m unpacking it and building it up now so I’ll have photos soon.

    Hey Hergules,

    Thanks for the posting Mark!

The seller might just get that price… we’ll have to see.

p.s. I haven’t seen a Sram derailleur “Worm” in forever! Just the other day I came across a new one in my part bins, a weird little part from the 1990’s era mountain biking (my favorite era)… all the innovation, CNC, and anodizing your wallet could handle!

There’s that smooth Barry White delivery that we’ve grown accustomed to loving…

Happy 4th to you and the rest of the Cudaheads!

So what is on the menu for the festivities?

I’m sure there’s something else but those three are all I need.

It’s amazing how different frames can be that utilize similar materials in frame construction. Case in point, my ’88 Schwinn Cimarron also has a 68mm bottom bracket shell, I was using a swaged road crank with a new 8 speed 32T freewheel, I had to track down a 130mm spindle bottom bracket to clear the chain stays because the frame was not dimpled like all the newer ’90’s stuff. Luckily, I found a NOS Tioga loose ball and cup bottom bracket that worked out perfectly. I’m running all first generation Shimano “Deerhead” XT components and thankfully the old 6 speed stuff was so overbuilt that I was able to set the limit screws and make it all work. I had to shorten up the front derailleur since I was using a double instead of a triple (but don’t forget the extra wide spindle) and let the rear screws way out to get all 8 gears on the freewheel. I’ll post some photos but last weekend I ripped the drivetrain down and got rid of the STI “brifters” and replaced them with bar end shifters. When I started out racing everything was “friction” and then the manufacturers went to “index” with everything. These days I find myself returning to friction with all my retro builds. I also got rid of the Ritchey 1.95 gumwall tires and replaced them with gray Schwalbe 2.3 Fat Frank tires… can you cay balloon goodness? I’ll probably start a thread explaining the customization and rebuild from 3×6 stock in Schwinn green with gold lettering to 2×8 cream with NOS gray waterslide decals… the gray cable housing, gray “Batwing” brake levers, and the gray tires really look quite tasty! I also swapped out the zero offset Thomson seat post for a set back Thomson post to get some additional versatility in the cockpit. For now, here is the original rebuild…

    +1 Agreed!

It’s a shame you failed to hit California, we’re always game for people to come and spend money as long as you go home! Seriously though… Yosemite, Big Sur, Lake Tahoe, Marin (birthplace of mountain biking) are all fabulous… plus, if you come in the winter it’s 75 degrees and you can surf in the morning and snowboard that afternoon! Only a handful of places on the planet can you do that in one day!

Come for a visit… then get the hell out!!!

    Cheers!

    Wait…. Morning wood, what’s that?

Ahhh Derek, don’t tell me you’ve forgotten what used to happen naturally? Think back man, back to a time before Viagra, back when you were simply young and dumb! Remember? Look man, no shame, just make sure you wake up before her and pop a Viagra, then when sleeping beauty wakes to see you’ve pitched a tent… she won’t know what else to do but say good morning!

Maybe that can be your “ride” report, suckers!

Just your Uncle D. looking out for ‘ya, good luck!!!

Every year I have to give Fathers day up due to her Birthday being close by and she has to enjoy that time…same with my birthday, guess about when we got married..just days apart..yep even that time I am required to make her happy other wise I am the bad guy…You know why married guys die before the wife…because they wish for it !

Holy crap! Wow, even more reason to squeeze some happiness out of the misery!

Your situation sounds similar to my buddy’s, when his compressor fires up she is in the garage in seconds (it seems like, I’ve been there plenty of times) and she is all over him about this and that. Once she quiets down, his question to her is, “What, you’d rather I be fat and miserable?” That seems to do the trick but I’ve often wondered if she ever calls his bluff, what’s the retort? Something about just living in misery, that sucks!!! Oh, be the bad guy more often and neither of you will take much notice and the label will fade away… worked for me!

…, if my wife does not throw a fit.

Ha- that’s a classic line for the ages!

I can’t even begin to imagine the amount of bike related anger and lets down my wife has endured being married to me for the last 10 years! A lifetime stuffed into a decade? Probably!

Man Big V., you’re a better than I for sure! Sacrificing the one day a year dedicated to fathers everywhere, the one day where men can ride their bikes without fear of the dreaded stinkeye, that’s your day! Take it back!!! Demand some mornin’ wood lovin’ and breakfast in bed, after breakfast send her to air up the tires on your Cuda plus give it a wet cloth wipe down, then go hit the trails with your buddies! What’s the matter with you??? Be the king and own your kingdom… for one day… then it’s back to the “yes dear” and the “honey do” lists… but for that day be KING!!!

    Oh man…

now I know what everyone saw when I was jumped by Nazis and I got a full 40 oz Mickey’s smashed on my face!

It flattened my nose and busted the bridge of my skull between my the eye sockets… but I didn’t go down!!! You never go down as there’s nothing but steel toe boots waiting for you down on the ground! I put the closest one to me in a headlock and kept punching, thankfully my friends weren’t far away and didn’t hesitate to jump in. I patched myself up that night with some cloth tape and a couple Q-Tips jammed up my nose, the bridge was never right but I’ve had my nose busted over 50 times between boxing, kickboxing, and MMA!

Dang, the visual of his face meeting the tire is gruesome!!!

My contribution happened a little over a year ago… a pair of cyclists from the UK riding up famed Mulholland Drive as they were blindsided by a Ducati rider who couldn’t hold his line. I’ve ridden that stretch of road a few times, it’s always sketchy with no room for error! The view from the top is worth the risk and the effort because one end is Pacific Coast Highway and the ocean with the other end being the mountains above Los Angeles and Hollywood. Some gorgeous views to be had at different times of the day, I think Mulholland has the best view of downtown LA!

Yeah yeah yeah… Dixie and all that crap! Weren’t you originally from Louisiana? I’m just pointing out the fact that it’s a miracle that such an impressive lad is from the south!!!

    Ha-ha, southern suckers!!!

Oh, I call foul for pulling out the tourist brochure photos… cheap sh*t move! C’mon Big V., you gotta do better than that or I’m going to retreat to an old favorite (your favorite) and post a photo of some gigantic southern belle in a compromising position!

    What now?
