- in reply to: 1995 UNLTD Restoration
The back story on this one is fairly straight-forward.A fella from Norway bought it new, rode it lovingly and eventually parted it out, keeping the frame and stripping it down as he grew tired of the paint scheme. Had plans to build it up again which stalled, and he ended up listing it for sale.
I received it and fact-checked the bike and it all looks good.
My plans are to restore it to original glory, as close to factory as I can get. The hardest part will be the crank, as toplines are scarce, due to their issues with cracking, and that I have to pair red arms with blue spider and then add Sugino rings to it.
I’ll likely complete the frame in the next few months. I plan on sending it to Spectrum Powder Works in Colorado Springs for the powder coating and decal applicaton (will do my own graphics for it, and add to our collection). The rest of the bike will be completed as I acquire the parts over the winter (my hope). I’m thinking I’ll finish this bike before the A2X projects. That is, unless there’s a revolt here!
Welcome Joey. Always a pleasure to have a Barracuda alumni on board; we will likely have a LOT of questions for you.Lots of great people out here who love the brand and the legend!

Perhaps this price for a new, in box Durango-build A2FX or UNLTD with all the NOS bling. But for a Ross made 1996+ bike? He’ll be owning this one for quite some time..- October 1, 2013 at 8:45 pm

I’ll put the nuke proofs on either the 1993 or 1994 A2X..This UNLTD will get the parts that were specced for it like all the red Ringle kit, the red Toplines, etc.

I had a lower-end ZOOM stem on one of my early bikes and it looked exactly like this.- August 9, 2013 at 12:21 pm

Yep, I’m go through periods where I have very little activity with my bikes, but I’m pretty sure that one the A2X bikes will be built by the end of the year.- August 3, 2013 at 5:05 pm

No massive changes; just lots of additions. I’ve got to get the “bikes” page completed with specs and pictures of the frames; I’m hoping that some incoming material from the 93 and 92 seasons will help with these. Also, more info coming from my many interviews with the key peeps.

Yeah, I’m one of those types of people who have to jump from one project or task to another and then back, etc. I rarely ever start something big and see it through to completion without interrupting it with other things. So, I’ve come back to this project and am now in the midst of resuming interviews with key people “in the know” of Barracuda, and cataloguing these interviews for use online.
Site and forum are due for some upgrades and additions too.

Not much info has yet been collected on this model if it’s indeed a 93, which I’ll assume is correct, as seeing how the 94 model was burgundy and white, and the later models were aluminum. You’ve got the first up-close pictures I’ve seen of a 93 Comp.- July 29, 2013 at 2:53 pm

Fair doesn’t always mean a happy ending to the seller..Depending on the components and condition, the price can rise or fall. Also, as time goes on, it’s human nature to tend to want to collect (or start your collection with) the high-end items first, and then round off with the lower-end models. I’m assuming that your bike is stock, no upgrades and it’s in excellent (9 or above).
I’d peg the street value of your bike at $150. Again, assuming the conditions mentioned above. That being said, if you find someone who used to own an A2M and they lust after getting one like the one they used to have, that price could rise.

Is it just me or does it appear that this frame might be too small for you?
