- in reply to: BAD NEWS for my A2M
Dang, that is bad news..I have a crack on the FRONT of my headtube, starting from the bottom, moving up about 2 cms. This is on one of my XXTeam frames (thank goodness I have a few) but I believe if you’re in love with the bike, you have options:
1 – I’ve heard of people placing “rings” around the outside of these headtubes, at the site of the crack, so that the tube itself won’t crack apart.
2 – You can find a good welder who can repair a crack.
3 – You can replace the headtube.Me, I’d trust #1 before I would #2 and #3, but that’s just me..

Yeah, the only way I’d be on that one is if there was a pro rider who had done that, and there was a pic showing it..- October 12, 2010 at 3:17 am

One thing I just noticed, look at how FEW sponsors are on that Jersey, versus the one she’s wearing here:That makes it a nice EARLY jersey, even rarer!!

Yeah, I remember that too.The Ultimate was a “true” custom bike, only available on order, so it’s safe to say that the only people who ever really saw one were people who bought one, or perhaps had one made for them (execs, etc). If I ever saw an 18″, I would have to liquidate anything I owned to buy it. I wouldn’t, couldn’t pass it up.. I feel the same way about the A2FX, which also, I’ve never known anyone to see, other than the one that Dave and Jon toured around with..

For sure. For a Cuda fan who likes the aluminum hardtail bikes the best, there are really only 2 models to lust after:1. Easton (1993/94)
2. Ultimate (1995)I’ve seen a couple of Eastons, but I’ve never actually laid eyes on the fabled Ultimate..

Everything in this ad is correct. This is the Easton frame, and it is a handmade frame, by Yeti. It’s a very early bike. They were known to crack though.I’ve asked the seller for more info.

This is trippy. I want to know more about this bike, for sure. Like what the serial number is, whether it was an XX coming off the factory floor, or if it’s a re-branded A2M or something, etc..- October 5, 2010 at 7:20 pm
