    Great news on the A2T. That’s a wonderful high-end bike that you’ll love. After a quick ride, you’ll forget about losing out on the A2M.

    I think that when people list these bikes cheap, they take a step back when they get a lot of interest, and decide not to sell at that price after all, and will post it later, marked up.

    My bet is that we’ll see that A2M show up again.

    Excellent question!

    No, I don’t know the origin, but I’ve often thought that the A2Z was the first model in mind, and that perhaps they said “this isn’t a race bike, it’s the one that gets you from “a to z”. I guess you could say “a to b” but whatever. I’ve often thought that was the origin, and they built upon that..

    Anyone else?

    Truth is, I was WAY bummed about the site going down. The only thing that kept me from getting it going immediately afterward, was the re-collection of all the info, and I think I’m missing a bit still. It’s a drag.

    But the way I see it, is that I may have put the site up, but it’s you guys that keep it going. Activity drives more activity, right? In that regard, you guys are the reason the site is successful.

    Actually, contributors are always welcome. If you see anything that you think should be featured or included on the main site, feel free to submit it or send me a note. Or, if you’re able to gather some information that I haven’t yet obtained, I’d be grateful. Some of the things I’m currently tracking down are:

    – Magazines that feature Barracuda products (product reviews, ads, etc)
    – Pro riders that I haven’t yet listed in the Race Team page
    – Specifics on manufacturing/production

    I’m sure there is more, but this is a good start.

    Thanks for the kind words, but there are other Cuda-heads out there greater than I. I mean, I’m astounded by at least one collection of bikes on here. :)

    Some good food for thought here. I haven’t yet begun to think about deciphering the serials, but this is a fantastic start.

    The XXTeam wasn’t actually a race bike. It was painted up like one, but the tubing wasn’t as good. I think the only time a production bike was raced by the pro squad, was the A2X for a brief period in 93/94, but they kept breaking frames, because the tubing was the Prestige Superlight. After that, they went to custom frames made by Herting, which if I recall, was just Prestige.

    Yep, I ran across this pic a while back, same place.

    It is a very scary design, but it’s just a Frankenstein prototype anyhow. I would never, ever take that thing down even a shallow grade driveway. :)

    There’s something to be said about a bike that has some nicks and scuffs here and there. It’s been loved.

    Funny that you mention the bike shop. When I bought my prized XXTeam, the buyer didn’t want the hassle of shipping, etc. I called the bike shop closest to him in Arizona, asked them to perform the necessary packing, etc, and they obliged. I paid the seller for the bike, and upon delivery to the bike shop, I paid them for their shipping services. I wound up with a sweet bike 3 days later. A bit more effort than I would have liked, but for a quality item, worth every penny.

    Yeah, totally weird about how people won’t ship.

    I came across a NOS set of Onza spd pedals and the chap wanted $30 for them. I called and asked if he’d ship; I’d pay for all shipping costs and even make the arrangements for Fedex to come pick up at his house, all that. He agreed and I hung up to make some calls.

    I get a call about 30 mins later from the guy saying he changed his mind and wanted to sell them locally. I upped the price to $40 and he still declined.

    Sometimes, I don’t get people..
