Starting to look like a bicycle now. Got the cables to where everything is tuneable, and the new chain installed. Off to the LBS for a new star nut.- September 16, 2012 at 10:45 pm

Cool I’ll check it out.@Mark wrote:LOL @ Non-Walmart Diamond Back.

I remember Diamond Back bikes from around the time Barracudas were being sold; didn’t really care much for them at the time, but it’s been so long since I’ve seen one, I’d actually consider hunting one down and restoring it..
Pics?
It’s a new hybrid purchased at the LBS for my girl to replace her clunky ’74 Rollfast, there’s a pic in my restoration post.

Is it absolutely impossible to tune a 9 speed shifter for use on a 8 speed cassette?- August 31, 2012 at 5:13 am

AND I had a little old Mexican lady follow me into my driveway on her bike pleading and pleading for help day after last afternoon. “Please can you help me, my chain fall off two time every block. She is my car and take me to work.” [sic] I thought (You just hit up the right stranger) The front derraileur was way out of whack…. a hex wrench and a little tugging later and she was on her way. Ride on, senora.- August 31, 2012 at 4:58 am

I am getting excited to get this thing out of the ‘shop’ and popping wheelies. Thinking that lacing the cables will prolly be the tough part. Ain’t gonna do nothin I ain’t sure about. Hell, if it’s spring ‘for it happens it’s spring. Want to do it RIGHT but I’m not gonna pay retail for none of it. Working on rounding up some shifters, and will use zip ties if needed.

Ok fixed the headset, got the brakes and the chainrings installed. I can rebuild a 4-barrel carbeurator and swap an engine block blindfolded, but chainrings were a challenge! Methinks the handbar and accouterments will be next.I need a 3×8 rapidfire setup, the old gripshifts kinda suck. Any leads?

I just went and bought this frame. It’s clean and solid. Gonna get started building her very soon, like tomorrow. The guy was a cool cat too. :ugeek:
