@vpc66 wrote:By the way I look back at the first pictures you shown here on this thread on the tear down of the bike and you have a threadless stem laying next to the ridgid forks from the bike..so my guess is yep..never a threaded set up.
Yep threadless all the way. whew. Mind was blown for a sec. 😯

Ummmmm I don’t think it was ever threaded, Don? I guess I haven’t ever seen a threaded headset, maybe a link showing the difference?- October 18, 2012 at 10:55 pm

😳 😳 😳Grrrrr…… grrrrr…..
This dadgum bike. Much thanks to Neo for the pods
Shifting and braking PERFECTLY……… The Manitou fork I thought was a little too short by maybe a half inch on the steer tube, but tried it anyway. NOPE. So I figgered I’d go full rigid and put the SAME BARRACUDA rigid fork with the SAME Barracuda stem that came off my A2R (they worked fine on the other frame!), nope again!! Not wanting to strip a bolt or anything….. when I hold the wheel and put some (ok quite a bit of) pressure on the bars, it slips!! Any ideas?

@vpc66 wrote:how is the build going so far, other than the canti levers with V brakes I thought it was close to being a done deal or have you taking a brake on the build….
Wow ya’ll….. I am working on trying to score a local crankset for Don for a trade. He’s got a rapidfire/brakelever set lined up for me IF THIS DUDE SELLING THE CRANKSET WOULD JUST ANSWER A PHONE CALL.
\@Vinnie – Yes it’s oh so close///

^^^^^^what they said^^^^^^^Aaaand if those forks have a lockout, maybe you could train her with both methods. Or maybe have her ride the same trail with the preload all the way in and and all the way out, and then let her decide.
Then ground her if she doesn’t do well. Really tho’… I think we all started with rigids. But then I had lead based paint on my crib too.

I’m from Abilene. And I am a little jealous of the hill country folk. Now in the Rocky Mountains. It’s like a milkshake. And you don’t even need a straw.- September 23, 2012 at 7:45 pm
