This is true…. I already went to v-brake from canti’s, and I am pretty sure those brakes can stop a backhoe. YEah it was just a thought.

Ha. I am 6’4″ with a 34″+ inseam, and those face chops have multiplied last coupla weeks. I like to change things up with the facial hair. Narcissistic effect I guess. Will go silky smooth here in a bit, but the chicks are diggin the burns. I died them platinum blond for halloween and sprayed them bright red (Groundskeeper Willie from the Simpsons).

Ate it big on one of those stupid fake wood trail things on my fave trail with my skinny Specialized Armadillo tires [ROAD RASH]. Buuuuuttttt…. installed some Maxxis (front) and Intense 909 (rear). Questioning my judgement with the rolling resistance. 2.35 is a bit much for urban assault. But it is certainly confidence inspiring.

    See if this works. :)

Well here is my first urban assault…. I have a crude video shot with my phone but can’t figure out how to post it. I am definitely going to mount some knobbies soon.

Thanks to all for all your help. Special shout out goes to Don! Chain skips a little in 7th only now…. still tinkering with it.

Thinking that’s what it is…. brand new chain but that don’t mean it’s perfect.

GAAAAAHHHHHHH why is my chain skipping?

It hits each gear exactly….. when I put some torque on it it skips….. gah, guh-gugugugh gah!

Fastenal sells M7. You should have a dealer in your area.

They are about three miles away, but they charge a BS ‘break bag’ fee. The nut and bolt shop that two different LBS’s sent me to was a bust. So I guess Fastenal or just stickin with the stock ‘Cuda stem will be it for now.

Odd thing, I had the wrong headset bearings. I went and got the correct ones, put it all back together and whammo- it all works. Spent a coupla hours tuning the rear derailleur and guess what? Inaugural ride!!!The brakes are spot on, the rear shifter still a little -uh- sticky? and not digging the full rigid much, but damn….. my first full build. I even let my lovely girl buzz her around the block :) It will take some more tuning and an INEXPENSIVE front suspension fork, but she fits me well, and so does the bicycle! Maybe the fork on that $20 A2B will fit?

Do not mean to twist the knife but……THAT SUCKS!!!
The Bontrager frames go for big coin on flea-bay and make killer looking vintage singlespeed rides, sorry you gave it up but how does one know what will be worth something years down the road or just a turd in the corner of the garage.
And so glad you ask what Bontager had to do with the weather ???

Hahahaaaaa… my tires on my Avanti RidgeRider commuter are now Bontrager knobbies, hence me being able to ride in the snow. You guys crack me up.

Oh….. anyone know where I can find some bolts (M7 by one) for a Jamis headset? I’ve been to 3 LBS’s, and got laughed at, went to a local ACE hardware (didn’t get laughed at) and a Home Depot (didn’t get service).

On the slickery stem and steer tube…… I do have a Jamis stem that is a little more burly than the stock ‘Cuda one…. it just needs some bolts…. Off to Ace Hardware!!!! or LBS, we’ll see who has what.

Snow here this week! (thank you Bontrager)
