It shouldn’t hurt at all, My 98 A2M was by far my favorite bike that I ever owned, I loved the way it handled and it was from the NY factory too.- August 31, 2011 at 1:13 am

I agree, there is a guy on ebay that annodizes thomson parts but I havent seen him do seatposts and it wouldn’t be the same anyway. On my 08 full suspension stumpjumper I have a Nuke proof warhead post and it is very similar to the thomson. I put it on there as kind of a tribute to my A2M, one of the highlights of that bike were the nuke proof carbon fiber hubs that I had on it so I figured I’d put somthing nuke proof on the new bike.- August 29, 2011 at 11:44 pm

Yeah mix, it looks great. I the flash of the red post was cool but i’m a huge fan of thomson and it looks a little more tough with the black post so slightly different look than the red but equally as cool.Same here, not much at my house and I’ve had basement floods before. I drove around down by the bay and there are some roads with over a foot of water in them so the houses there were flooded but other than that a few downed trees. We’ve definately had worse storms than that in the past. What a pain with new baby in the house, good thing she has no clue. Good luck to you!- August 27, 2011 at 2:02 am

Just check the area where the shock mounts to the top tube for cracks. As far as upgrades, keep the front shock travel to the stock travel if you change forks to one with a disc brake mount everything else is up to you. I’m currently bulding a 96 A2E wtih full XT 9speed and a front disc brake.- August 19, 2011 at 8:38 pm
