    Hey all,

I disassembled my 1988 Cimarron LE for the last time. The previous version with Shimano STI “brifters” worked well but they were so damn ugly! It frustrated me because I really enjoy the bike but it had this pair of hideous pimples (aka brifters) protruding off the front, I couldn’t take it anymore! I decided that since I was teaching summer school Monday through Thursday for 6 weeks, my Fridays off would be devoted to rebuilding the bike. I spent the entire opening weekend going through my spare bins of parts, I saw the direction I wanted to go and ordered up everything I didn’t have on hand. All the components were cleaned and polished before reassembly. There were plenty of little snags along the way, by snags I’m referring to things like changing the shifting shortened the cockpit. The result being my straight Thomson seat post was no good, I was already running the longest Nitto “Dirt Drop” (100mm) quill stem, so I had to order a Thomson setback post. There’s something that just fits this lugged and fillet brazed American frame having a streamlined build… alabaster, silver, gray, and black. I completely love how the build turned out! I look forward to hearing the likes and dislikes, thanks!
