Back in 2001/2002 I was riding my very loved Barracuda A2R. I’m not 100% sure of the year but it had the teardrop downtube and the Tree Amigos sticker on the seat tube.

Custom built spec with a Rock Shox Judy SL, Shimano LX/XT/XTR, Mavic wheels. I sold the bike in the spring of 2003 and have regretted it ever since.

The A2R’s come up often, so a replacement should be sought easily. Many of us here comb the usual sites (Craig’s List, Ebay, Kijiji, et) so keep your eyes on the marketplace page!

I’ve been browsing Kijiji and eBay regularly. No luck thus far but I’m pretty patient for something like this.

They’re tricky though, you have to search the sites using tools in order to see results from ALL locales. For Craig’s list, I use a tool called Craig’s Pal, and I know some others here use other tools too…

I may be able to help you out there but no guarantees. There is a guy I know who picks up 95 1/2+ cuda frames from ross warehouse sometimes. When you see the nos ross made frames on ebay he is the one selling them. Anyway I’m pretty sure yours is the transition year and I think I have seen him with these before. Ill keep checking in from time to time

    Ratch Attack,

I have picked up 5 Ross built Cuda frames from bigalscycleworld on ebay. I know it is not an A2R but I have a 96 18″ A2E that I built, rode, and have now returned to frame status just sitting around. If you would be interested I could post some pictures and would be happy to sell it for $65 (Including shipping). I have thought about relisting it on Ebay but have just been hanging on to it. It is silver and dark green and has the Tree Amigos sticker on the seat tube. It has a few scratches from riding but it looks great. The same offer goes for anyone else on this site if Ratch Attack is not interested. I have been putting the finishing touches on the Dos Equis Team Frame and will be posting some pics soon. Hope I can help you out!

The 96 was a transition frame with tree amigos decals. It is actually a really nice frame and I think you should consider it if you want a steel frame. Its of the tange ultimate breed. I have this and a 97 too.

Will, I actually know al, I’ve been to his store a few times. He told me he has another guy “will” that bought a bunch of frames from him too lol. Al gets some cool stuff in from time to time, I check in every so often. He gets them from the ross warehouse. What I wouldn’t give to be able to visit that place! He told me that a couple years back he got more of the high end ones and full susp

I like it, I PMed will. Does it have a 1 1/8th head tube?

by the way you probably saw on another thread that I am rebuilding up my first MTB an 86 Schwinn sierra. I would like to trim it in red ano. I’m watching a ringle stem on ebay but was wondering if you had anything like a seatpost or stem that you were looking to sell to a good home. I would like the stem to be on the longer side since the frame is actually somewhat short for me.

    Yup, 1 1/8th, 26.4 post, 68mm bb shell, 28.6 fd clamp :)

I wish I had more red parts, unfortunately I have less in that color than I would like. I’m actually looking for a red ringle stem for my mountain cycles too, I had a nos red kooka but I ended up using it for my moms dakar team. As far as the seatpost since I think its 26.4 check a seller “chasertech” on ebay who has kalloy uno posts in that size in most colors. They are actually decent and cheap!

Manbeer, thats really cool you know Al, he has been a great resource for me in building Cuda frames. I just rode a Full Suspension rig (XC) on some tight single track in Raleigh, NC (I live on the coast of NC at the moment). It performed great but unfortunately it is just too large for me. I may hang on to it since they seem kind of hard to come by but I may change my mind too, nothing I hate more than seeing a bike or bike frame just sitting around. The A2E frame I have looks just like the one in your pic. I love that Silver/Green combo! I will get some pics up here soon for anyone who is interested in it. The XC frame I have is a 22″, so if there are any big boys on here who really really want it, I may be able to be persuaded to part with it too. The last frame I picked up from Al was a 14″ A2ZS in Audi Pearl and Purple. Gotta love that long top tube, with a 400mm seatpost that little frame actually fits my 6′ body! We need to get Al to join the community, he has been a blessing for my Cuda adventures!! If ya’ll are ever looking for bike parts on Ebay I am user wilburtclimbs. As I mentioned before I am narrowing down my stable and will be listing some nice used parts soon. One piece of interest is a set of first gen XT rapid fire shifter/brake combos, the ones with the triggers on top of each other. I had to pay $150 to get these babies on Ebay and was planning on using them for my XX build but opted for Magura Hydraulics instead. Unfortunately the cradle that holds the swaged brake cable end broke (ugh) on the right unit. I disassembled them and it appears that any ordinary cable cradle would work as a replacement. These shifters are in really great shape, very close to NOS, just a couple of scuffs. If someone could replace that cradle they would be very nice for a early 90s period correct build. I teach at a community college so I am pretty busy during the week and of course riding on the weekends but I will try and get pics up ASAP so as to give my fellow cuda fans first dibs on those shifters. Cheers everyone!
