    A2E?

But I think a few models in the range had the same (Tange Prestige) frame but different spec.

I hadn’t even noticed from your original post that you listed the S/N – did you get that from the seller? Indeed it does seem to match the sequence from the other S/N’s listed as being a ’94 A2E.

To be fair, I think I’d have to include shipping and call it $40.

Congrats on the win… that’s a steal of a deal… and (as stated) welcome to the family!

I think I stumbled across your seller’s ad on Craigslist:

    http://slo.craigslist.org/bik/2807416048.html

    Barracuda Mt. frame – $40 (s.m.)

This is a early 90’s mountain bike frame 18″ very light call 805-878-7291 has been powder coated black.

Yep got the S/N off the seller.

Are you planning on decals? Stealthy is good but a headtube logo would be cool too.

Yep, that must be it. He told me it had been powder-coated and the tracking info shows it shipped out of Santa Maria CA.

I hadn’t really thought so far ahead as to decals. Heck, a week ago I had no idea that there had been a bike company called Barracuda! But I like orphans – I own a couple Merkurs.

The basic plan for this frame is for it to get much of the left-over components from my ’95 SuperGo Access Max which cracked about a year ago. Incredibly, I got a full refund on that frame since Performance Bike had acquired SuperGo and extended the lifetime warranty. Several of the components are purple, so I’ll have a purple and black theme going on. Should be different.

Arrived today. :) Considering that an Aluminum seatpost, bottom bracket, headset, and two Blackburn bottle cages were included, I think I did pretty good. Anyone know what the original seatpost looked like? This one is one of those paired-bolt types. I’m thinking it could be original as it has “93.10” stamped in it which I’m assuming is October 1993. Anyone else have one like this?

Apparently the 18.5″ frame size was stated in the “old school” way of measuring BB-Ctr of top tube-Ctr. The frame measures 20″ from BB-Ctr to seat tube top. But I think for my purposes that will be fine, as I was figuring to set this up more as a hybrid-like build with 1 3/8″ road tires. I’m 5′ 11″ with a 32″ inseam.

Serial# as indicated above is confirmed.

Now I just need to figure out how I’m going to build this thing out.
