Hey all,It’s been 3 weeks since I replied to Derek’s question and Mix posted about his ‘Cuda…
what the heck have you all been doing for 3 weeks?
I hope you’ve been riding your trusty Barracuda or possibly wrenching on it! Either way it’s time to write up a post ride summary or snap some photos of your ‘Cuda and share what mods you’ve recently made.
Nothing Barracuda related, that’s cool, share what you’ve done in September.
C’mon now, someone has to go first…

Agree Don, I have said the same myself on here! I started riding again with my old riding buddy but he was in a wreck ( not his fault, some clown ran into him ) and my other riding buddy ( just rides TT bike now, but I have a couple of older road bikes I use with him ) has been off due to health issues…sucks becoming older ! But I have been eating better and doing simple exercise routine from my past life as a martial artist, kills me how things that were so easy when I was young and in shape make me cry like a little girl now. Anyways in a little over a month I do believe I have drop 15 to 20 pounds and lost a few waist sizes just from drinking no more COKE and better diet…no late night garbage eating as well with lite exercise. I need to check which scale is correct between the two I have been using because one shows 15 lbs less and the second shows 20 lbs. My buddy and I have been going to a new trail that just open up for off road riding but Florida has been seeing rain often the last month or so and our last ride at that site we played U boat with our bikes..when I got home I took my wheels off to drain water out of the tires and hope my Chris King hubs are ok, I do not have the tools for Kings. Soon as he can ride again we plan on hitting one of the older sites. I would post pictures but have not been able to in sometime..not sure what the deal is there because I had no issue before.- September 29, 2014 at 4:13 pm
I have been riding the crap out of the A2MS, even poached those bad ass wheels off of the AXIS and the 7 speed group off the Haro and put them on the ‘cuda frame. It’s slick and silent.- September 29, 2014 at 4:28 pm
Taking apart the virgin DB…WOW, which do you like better the Cuda or DB, I take the Cuda !- September 30, 2014 at 1:43 am
Checking to see if I can post a picture of the Cuda set up for riding the new trail with the tires off my single speed due to mud and stumps that would have the lite weight simi slicks sliding and tear easy on the stumps. I kinda like the look with heavy knobs on her, but can feel the deference in the rolling resistance, the kenda nevegal drop speed way faster than the Bontrager SS tires so much it feels like the brakes are on.- September 30, 2014 at 1:58 am
Wow I got lucky I guess, so I will post a picture of the bike I have been working on for the wife. A double butt steel frame Gary Fisher..still want to change the derailleurs and shifters, new grips and redo the cables due to age and housing too long at a couple of points. Need new tires and the female mtb seat put on, a different stem and cranks also. After this picture was done I clean off old chain stay protector and put a new one on plus a pretty XT cassette..reminds me, I ned to put a new chain on.When I brought it home it had grease and dirt pack onto the frame, cheap tires with the front wheel being a cheap bolt on and the rear has a broken spoke, grips were sticky from age and had a straight seatpost. I clean it and put what parts I had laying around to do a picture with it clean up.

Not much riding for me lately (cause of the rain) but lots of working. We have ACL Festival for the next 2 weeks.. M&M, Pearl Jam, OutKast, Beck, Foster the People and a bunch of other unknowns.. I am going to be riding my Schwinn Moab to the festival every day. (Don’t trust leaving my Barracuda’s down there) I have a friend that lives about a mile from the park. I am leaving the Moab there for the next 2 weekends. I drive my Vespa to her house every day, jump on the bike, and head to Zilker Park.- September 30, 2014 at 7:39 pm
I figured you might be dealing with the rain like me, it is crazy, storms everyday have my grass tall and nothing I can do about it because of standing water that fills back up before it drys out. A number of our trails have been shut down due to water, will be nice when winter sets in so maybe we get some nice cool dry weather to ride in.- October 11, 2014 at 11:59 pm
Did a nice 15 mile ride today! Different trail than the new one we have been going to and both my riding buddy and I like this place better and having three trails that connect making a total of 52 miles, I have room to get back in shape before we go back to the old limestone quarry trails which I really enjoy the most. This place did surprise us with fast flowing single track, grade and drops…we had smiles on our face !- October 13, 2014 at 8:28 pm
Nice Vin! I have been kissing WAY too many college girls to get out and ride. Ah welllll it is what it is.Seriously though, our weather has been exceptional. Good times.

Unlike the others on here, you are waiting for snow to pull your bike out for rides. Hats off to you Derek for riding no matter what it is like outside !
Ps…if Em finds out about those school girls, she will kick your ❗- October 13, 2014 at 11:49 pm
She knows what she got herself into. And that I wouldn’t ever cross ‘that’ line.- October 14, 2014 at 2:42 pm
A few pictures from the weekend ride, my buddy kept going so I had to hurry and only took a few in the spot I stop. Need to go on my own or with my son so the ride is more of a slow pace.- October 14, 2014 at 9:33 pm
Nice. Those roots look like they could sweep an old man like you. Glad to hear you are working on getting back in shape.

Gee THANKS Derek 🙄 Funny, did not notice the roots on this simple trail as I blast over them first nor second time running the trail…took pictures while playing around on way back from second ride down this path to the cross over to a different trail. But yes I hope to be back in shape so I can roll past young smart ❗ guys …maybe if I am lucky, one day we will ride somewhere if the bike gods smile on us and we get the chance !Feels so good to be back riding on real trails …though I do miss my Son enjoying the rides as well..
For real, Thanks Derek !
