Hi everyone! This is my Cuda(still under construction), that i purchased a couple of months ago for about 100$. Unfortunately it wasn’t in the best shape ever. Thinking about repainting the bike, i ordered a decal set, i just have to be 100% sure that i want to do it.

Right on, you made it, welcome to the gang!!!Usually I don’t waste a breath on painting over something original, kind of a jerk that way, but yours being a 1993 or 1994 in a rare color that doesn’t come up too often (as a higher end bike)… I wouldn’t mess with it. As good brother Mixalive has said, “It’s only original once.” The way I see it you scored a great early Cuda for en excellent price, I’d leave it be and just enjoy riding the tires off it!
Again welcome, glad we could get you sorted out and in the family!
Peace,

p.s. Clearly that Ringle water bottle cage doesn’t match your bike, you best move would be to get a Camelback and send the Ringle cage to me… thanks!

Well, you have a good point there Neo! The original paint’s shape is not horrible, just a couple of chips on the rear triangle, especially on the chainstays. I removed some new era stickers(TLD, RaceFace) from the frame and i cleaned it with a cloth and a bit of gasoline. When i bought the bike i didn’t know much about Barracuda, but meanwhile i did some reading and that’s how i found you guys. It’s nice when something has a history behind it and especially if there are enthusiastic folks keeping it alive and rollin’! And Neo, what about i’ll send you that H20, for a Zooka faceplate 😈 ?- August 18, 2013 at 4:28 pm
Wow, now there is a near impossible find… the last purple Zooka stem face plate I saw was a NOS one on RetroBikeUK, the seller wanted 25 pounds and got it quickly! A NOS Zooka stem fetched almost $200.00 a few months back, so they are still out there if you can wait. You would do better to have the silver one on the stem anodized purple to match and call it good. Trust me when I say that there are plenty of Zooka stems missing their cracked face plates.Happy hunting!

I went to a local business specialized in cnc, and tried to work something out with them, but they didn’t show any interrest in helping me out(to busy for bike stuff), so for now i’m stucked with the silver faceplate. Hope is not lost though!- August 19, 2013 at 7:15 am
Here it is in it’s actual shape, with the blemishes, major scratches. I changed that cable routing improv, instead of putting back the cantilevers. The xt v-brakes have more stopping power than the lx cantilevers that were on the bike. Plus it came with some cheap, non working 3×8 combo shifter/levers, a pair of even worse wheels, and…oh well, i’m going to post a picture with the bike in it’s “original shape”(first pic).- August 19, 2013 at 3:51 pm
That is the cool thing about bikes, when a little love is giving to them they can be a thing of beauty not to mention fun as hell to ride. And looking at your DIY bike repair stand I feel you are the type to show it hands on attention ! It is easy to walk into a shop and drop money on a bike, but to take one that has been beat a bit and turn it into something worth looking at…that is a great feeling.- August 19, 2013 at 6:48 pm
Honestly that’s one of the main reasons i like old bikes, you have to sweat a little to make it better, always improving, upgrading, finding the goodies for it. It takes involvment, passion.- August 20, 2013 at 12:04 am
Damn! Your A2T has some beautiful welds!!! They look like the welds on my ’89 Yeti FRO that Frank the Welder did… you are one lucky Cudahead!!!- August 20, 2013 at 12:12 am
That is like my Schwinn S-30 …my Cuda looks like a kid was playing with Play-doh !- September 13, 2013 at 1:24 pm

Ah yes, looks at home with the off road tires now and I am sure the co-pilot would agree !- September 14, 2013 at 4:55 am

Definitely! If the day ever came that I were to repaint the frame, I spend quite a bit of time smoothing out the hideous welds! It’s not everywhere but a few spots look more like a pinched up turd as opposed to a stack of dimes!!!
