I finally finished putting this one back together. It is a 93 A2R with a 14″ frame. I purchased it on the cheap from Craigslist for $45. Thanks of course to Neo-pop for the tip that it was in my back yard. As I updated my CudaComp with XT, I put the LX groupo on this bike. This is the finished product.

Nicest budget Cuda ever!!!+1 for down home cred too… keepin’ it in Austin with the LBS frame sticker is worth big bonus points in my book!!! It really turned out well… now you just need a few Cudaheads to pop by for an unannounced visit (carrying suitcases of PBR) and go for beer crit around your local park!

Thanks dudes.. The Manitou 3 has the elastomers, but I am still looking for a Wings spring conversion kit.- December 18, 2012 at 2:20 am
Dude’s… I am really enjoying riding my $45 A2R. Rides good. Shifts good. Handles good. Downhills good. Looks good.. Just an all around nice ride..- December 18, 2012 at 4:02 pm
That first pic, Left_thru_bushes, is a great shot… it looks like a pic that would have been in Mountain Bike Action for a Barracuda write up. Sweet!- April 23, 2013 at 2:53 am
I know I have said it a few times but it is so true…Thomson seat post, there is no other! Ha..I have a Dale seat on my cheap single speed bike, forget who really makes that thing have seen them with other names on them as well but yours is the same as mine with the coda on the nose. Sweet bike made even more so with that post on her now, icing on the cake would be a Thomson stem as well…and now they have a seat post clamp…MERCY!- April 24, 2013 at 1:52 am
I spent more on the seat post than I did on the bike..- April 24, 2013 at 2:44 am
Man I wish I could say that about buying a nice Cuda then adding a Thomson. But yea I understand about the pricing on Thomson parts..new or used the price does not change much which if you are selling that is a good thing. The Thomson I put on the S-30 had to be cut down and even more with my wife riding that bike, so now for me to ever use the thing it would have to be on a road bike….pretty much means a waste of a Thomson with me now…Road Bikes..BORING- April 23, 2014 at 2:56 am
I pulled out the A2R today. Man.. I had forgotten how nice a Barracuda rides. I had been pilling around on my Schwinn Moab for the last couple of months, whenever weather allowed. But the A2R was such a delight, it has me motivated to hit the trails.- April 23, 2014 at 3:55 am
Ahhh… yes, that feeling is exactly what I love about bikes! It’s always been there, almost 40 years later, it never goes away! People who don’t ride would not understand, you’d fail if you tried to explain it to them. Why bother? Instead spend that energy having a great ride. Between my dog and my bike, that’s all the therapy I require!Glad you reconnected with an old friend!
Cheers!
