Did your Comp come from the factory with the removable dropout?

That is one of the things that I have noticed from the other bikes here. I bought it from a shop owner that sold Cudas. Heck I had gone into his shop back in early 90’s and fell in love with the bikes then…and years later I grabed this frame from him. It was his wifes frame, he had a frame that was a higher model but to big for me. As far as I know it is a true Cuda, but hope that the folks on here who know what they are talking about could give some facts on it. He had told me it was Easton Elite on the front with Elan (what ever) on rear….but Looking around that does not seem right..it looks like they were just made from the rear metal he talked about.

It’s a great looking bike. I love the old style carbon fiber where you can see the weave unlike the new stuff that just looks like plastic. My A2M was a 98 aluminum and had the replaceable drop out.

Well if all works out I just bought forks to replace the ones on it which blew out. Bought off ebay Rock Shox Sid sl duel air…funny part is, in the picture on ebay the person wrote that sale was just for forks, not brakes, rim or frame…the frame in the picture is a Barracuda…so if you are on this forum, you will still see your forks.

That was my fork!! I hope it works out will for you, post pics. I went back to a Manitou Magnum on mine, no where near as light or good as the SID, bu my main ride is a 29er anyway.

No major off road rides yet, just little stuff with my son. The initial feeling was strange to me over my old forks, but after a little time in saddle that went away….the old forks had a lot of brake squeal with the carbon arch and these I need to lay on the brakes HEAVY to make a noise. Easy to get tire in and out of these forks where as the old ones were so narrow I would have to air down the tire to do it. I like them….need to play with psi in legs to find my sweet spot I think and one day I might drop travel a bit…will no doubt split the travel of what the bike came with and where these are at right now.

It has been a number of weeks from riding but finally had a chance to pull the bike out and go for a simple ride with my son,we were both sore and off our normal pace but it felt good to be back in the saddle and not feel the pain in shoulder and arm knowing out of shape but able to ride again….O and a little treat on showing Cuda pride during the ride help alot!

    Nice vpc66!

That’s a proper Barracuda set up right there… that looks super sick!!!

I dig it! I’ve got some Cuda envy goin’ on  ‘cuz I know I’m never going to find a sweet jersey like that in a XXL!

p.s. As I am a fashion diva, it’s time for a matching red helmet! That blue simply will not do… it’s like c’ankles on a woman… it’s just will not do!!!

Hahha…no need to tell me about it. My first helmet was red but I did not like how it felt after buying it so I gave it to my brother to use and bought the grey Giro helmet in the chair which my Son claims now. The blue Bell helmet that is my old road bike helmet that looks good with the blue riding top on the blue Dale. What you did not notice was the green Camelbak which I use also, that went with my old green Shimano shoes (that is my Sidi which are beat now) and green (plus a few other colors mixed in) riding top…my set up from the F.s bike…I will not get into the gloves ok,but my fav pair is black and yellow.
As a decades old Scuba Diver …well we laugh at new folks, you can tell them because all gear matches and even more funny when it is a husband wife team. So my only set up that matched was with the Dale….and I bought that right before I started diving.
But because my son claim my fav helmet and it looks so good on him I have been kicking around the though of a new one so you never know…there just might be a picture of me in the future where I look like a newbie …maybe new shoes at sometime also.
P.s………..The top feels very nice riding in,I need to get my legs back so I can go do a group ride and show colors with pride….Thanks!
