So I started a new thread…heres the story and the build…So this bike is built exactly as my old racer BITD. Was alot of fun puttin together. My original got stolen in 1993. At the time I was working in a shop and after the insurance check I jumped ship on the BMX seen and went to the mountain side of things and got a ’93 Barracuda Comp. Well about 4 months later I found a kid riding my Ripper! Needless to say I reclaimed it as it was that or the coppers for the other guy and he didnt like option 2. Anyway I ended up still riding it for a little while before selling it to a friend of my brothers. Never realy saw it again. Then about 4 months ago I came into this frame as I was wandering down Memory Lane. Decided to build it like the BITD racer. So the only things that are different are the pads as they are new style, the rims which are also new…I just couldnt spend the loot on a pair of 7x right now. Heres the break down and some pics.

Loved Rippers….did bmx in my early teens to late…last ride was a Gt pro, when they were real Gt’s….looking on ebay has made me think about rebuilding it ,kind of got a laugh, with prices on vintage parts,my old ride would cost more than when I was a kid….knew I should have kept it. Sold it to get money for a car, then my parents gave me one…O well- September 9, 2011 at 1:25 am
I have about 1100.oo in this one…was worth it…never seems to cost as much if you buy parts here and there…lol…- November 26, 2011 at 3:29 am
Hey Sith-I hope you don’t mind me piggybackin’ your thread for my BMX build… part of it is the same deal, I recall you mentioning one day junior may be rippin’ it up. I built this bike for my daughter, she’s just about there, so I figured I’d get to buildin’ her a race bike. Mine is in no way (anywhere) as sweet as your PK, so I figure my bike isn’t taking anything away from yours (but I’m still proud of the build). My daughter can’t wait to rip around on it!!! 😈
I picked this bike up recently for practically nothing… I still can’t believe my luck! I’ve wanted a “Pistol Pete” signature bike ever since I saw him take the holeshot and go on to win the event. I’ve owned a few Parkpre mountain bikes over the years but the Team Image BMX always eluded me; I’d all but given up on ever finding one! Then Craigslist comes through… local, low use,and super cheap!!! The build as pictured in the 4th image is as I bought it, I’ve made significant changes, now it’s race ready and super quick! Here are the specs as built:
Parkpre “Pistol Pete” Loncaravich Signature frame
FSA carbon fiber cranks
FSA 32T chainring
Truvativ American to Euro bottom bracket converter
Shimano XT bottom bracket
Shimano “oval link” (CN-NX01) 1/8th single speed chain
SR Racing “old school” pedals
Titec seatpost (with stock seat collar clamp)
WTB SST seat
Fusion 6 bolt stem
Gary Fisher chromed 4130 bars
Magura Evolution hydraulic brake
Landing Gear chromed 4130 forks
ODI Ruffian lock-on grips
Shimano Dura Ace 16T freewheel
NOS Primo Hubs
NOS Araya Japan 20×1.75 double-walled box rims
Maxxis Holy Roller tires (1.75″ & 1.95″)- November 27, 2011 at 7:46 pm
Not a bad looking ride Neo….I still have dreams of building a BMX ride someday but family already claims to many rides I have. Sorry but I have no clue about the frame or team…but as I scrolled over team pic the date showed….yep….a decade after I was done with BMX and looking at thirty coming my way. Had played with road bikes and close to jumping onto MTB. Hope your daughter enjoys the ride….
