I think Yeti started making bikes in the early 80’s. See the following link from Yetifan:

John (J.P.) Parker started Yeti in Agoura Hills, just above Los Angeles… I bought a “FRO” (For Racing Only) from him in ’89 (I still have the paperwork somewhere), awesome light frame that came with no warranty. Crazy feathery light steel frame that broke, as time would tell, almost every FRO I ever heard about broke. Great time to be in mountain biking… titanium was getting popular as was anodized parts… memories. No one back then could have seen the day when it’s not uncommon to drop $5,000.00 on a carbon (coffin) that was built in Taiwan! Not me, steel is real but more over is steel is not going to explode and splinter under more! I have the scars on the inside of my calf where my front Spinergy carbon blades had an epic failure and nearly impaled me! No carbon for me!

I think it is Mix, It must have been a downhill bike based on the suspension seat, in later years bike makers switched to using a frame mounted rear shock. Also since hikers weren’t used to seeing bikes on the trails back then the giant bell was to warn them that you were hammering down the train and they better watch out!
