Re: Original A2E Seat-post?
Digging up this old post as I'm finally getting around to building this into a usable bike. I was thinking I'd want to get a quick-release seatpost clamp, but now that I look at the design, it appears that the only option is to use a simple bolt and nut through the existing brazed-on stays - yes, no, maybe??? Anyone have any close-up pics of the original factory bolt?
Might be just as well since the 30mm seatpost is a bit of a rarely-used oddball size. BTW, is 30mm the "official" size? The I.D. of the tube measures out at 29.9mm and the original post at 29.95mm

Cheap bikes use a simple bolt and nut, go to a bike shop or online and get a seat binder bolt..they really do not cost that much and you will be far more happy with the clean look. That being a part that has no need to be vintage I would hit up the bike shop first, more than likely they would want more on line .

Yea, but this wasn't a cheap bike when new!

That was my point..use seat binder hardware. Just typing in seat binder bolt on ebay this came up with many more..the price on this one is 5.04 with free shipping. Would not surprise me to find it at a bike shop for less.

Ah, missed the point! Next visit to the LBS I'll see what they have. In the mean time, nut & bolt will suffice.
