Any of you guys thought of having Tom Teesdale build a retro frame based on the 93 Barracuda geometry? I wonder if he can do that oval shaped tubing these days? I understand he built the original prototypes for Barracuda..

That's a cool idea, I'm sure he could do the job and it would be gorgeous... however, I've grown so spoiled on inexpensive Barracuda bikes! I don't think I could bring myself to pulling the trigger and placing an order with Tom.
Here's the pricing info from Tom's (TET Cycles) site:

Pricing
Steel Frames
Basically steel frames are priced by the material from which they are made. Because each one is hand-made Tom can offer many options at the same price. In general here is how it looks:
$975 – True Temper S-3, Columbus Spirit
$875 – Columbus Life, True Temper OX Platinum, Reynolds 853
$825 – True Temper VerusHT, Columbus Zona,Reynolds 725
$775 – True Temper Verus, Nova CrMo
Forks usually go from $165 to $195 if Tom makes one for you.

I think for the cost of a fork, I'd rather throw in a little more and pick up this vintage 'Cuda beauty:

92 Barracuda Mt Bike - $225 (Sherwood)

Own a classic! Everything works perfect. No dents or dings. New tires.

See... for a couple hundred bucks, you could be the proud owner of this A2T and still have plenty of dough in your pocket! True, it's not an original by one of the greatest builders in the 90's but it is a sweet turquoise gem!!! By the way, if any of you buy this beauty... you own me a six pack!!!

Ok, I'm glad someone raised this topic, because I've thought about it since interviewing Tom for the site. Personally, I think it'd be a great idea to collect interest and opinions for having either of these re-created:

a) Original Barracuda prototype (there were a few original models offerred, I'd go with the highest end frame)

b) Full suspension A2FS frame

Any thoughts?

Best,
Mark

"A"
I would like a hardtail steel race bike frame that we could paint and decorate however we like.

Sorry, I'd prefer to have the A2T pictured above (which is still available as of 9/27/11) and take my family on a mountain bike vacation to some great mountain destination. That said, I don't have the spare coin to consider a custom frame. Plus, my wife already thinks I have too many bikes in the garage (or house)... she'd brutalize my skull if I ever dropped that kind of dough on another bike... unless it was for her... like her Simonetti race bike!

I'll enjoy your custom bikes vicariously and avoid the body trauma!!!
