Performance Bicycle has opened up a shop in Austin. I did not know what you guys thought about, what appears to be the "Sam's Club" of bike shops. The prices seem good. And tons of product. But that Team Performance Buyers Club discount card..
I would think you would need to be buying a lot of product per year to justify the cost of the membership. But what really turned me off was the disclamer that they would keep your credit card on file and automatically renew your subscription each year. Too much "fine print" for this cash paying hillbilly.
I can't help but think that this store is going to hurt the Mom and Pop bike shops in town. Well, I guess it won't hurt the Lance Armstrong Mellow Johnny's shop. Hell, he has all the money.. Just picking on Lance, but Mellow Johnny's is top notch. They rebuilt my Mavics recently and did a bang up job. (For a price)
